A study conducted on diabetic rats showed that consuming boiled young squash water for 1 month, combined with water cooked from young squash, was able to stabilize blood sugar. During the first 20 days, the rats' blood sugar levels gradually decreased. By the 30th day, blood sugar levels were close to normal.

In addition, many studies have shown that squash has the ability to increase cell sensitivity to insulin, thereby helping to reduce blood sugar levels, while also reducing fat, which is very good for obese people with diabetes.

- Green squash has many uses for people with diabetes. However, it should only be eaten 2-4 times per week.

- You should not drink squash juice or eat it raw because squash contains high levels of natural soaps. If eaten, it can easily cause stomachaches and negatively affect the digestive system.

- People with diabetes, people with yin excess and yang deficiency, cold body, abdominal pain, cold stomach, prolonged diarrhea, new mothers, children with poor digestive systems should limit eating squash.

To limit the side effects of squash, you can combine squash and fresh ginger to help increase the effects of clearing heat, reducing phlegm, benefiting qi, and strengthening the spleen.

People who should not eat squash

Although squash is cool and healthy, it is not good for everyone. There are some cases where you should avoid eating this fruit.

People with low blood pressure: In case of low blood pressure, you should not use squash to lose weight. The ingredients of squash contain very few calories, can lower blood pressure very quickly and easily cause stroke. You should only consider squash as a vegetable, a side drink after meals, absolutely do not use squash instead of rice and other foods.

People with cold constitution: Winter melon is cool, people with cold constitution should use a small dose and gradually increase each day to let the body adapt.

People with weak spleen and stomach, bloating, and diarrhea should limit eating squash.

Medicinal dishes from squash for diabetics

Remedy for edema : Use squash and onion to cook soup with carp and eat daily; or boil 40g squash and 40g red beans, drink daily.

Remedy for urinary incontinence, cloudy urine, and mucus in urine: Boil winter melon peel, take the water and drink.

Diabetes remedy : 20g squash rind, 20g watermelon rind, 20g gypsum (qua lau can). Boil all with one liter of water for 10 minutes, then store in a pot and drink all day. Or use 100g fresh squash with skin and seeds, 50g yam, 50g lotus leaves, boil water and drink all day.
