On June 16, Dong Nai province held a ceremony to announce the first batch of durian exported under the Protocol to the Chinese market.

Dong Nai's durian export shipment of 20 containers with about 360 tons of Dona and Ri6 varieties was shipped to the Chinese market by road through Tan Thanh border gate, Huu Nghi international border gate, and Mong Cai international border gate.

At the ceremony, Dong Nai provincial leaders said that durian is one of the province's key crops. In recent years, Dong Nai has focused on building specialized production areas according to high-quality export market standards, competitive prices with the active participation of businesses in the global supply chain.

In particular, to support the smooth export of durian products, the provincial government will accompany and promptly remove difficulties and obstacles of businesses and farmers so that Dong Nai province's agricultural products, especially the province's key products, can fully meet the requirements and conditions according to the regulations of importing countries.

According to the assessment of Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Hoang Trung, the fact that Dong Nai province officially exports durian to China is not only a source of pride for Dong Nai durian growers, but also a common joy for people in the Southeast region and the whole country.

It is known that, although it is an industrial and service province, Dong Nai always focuses on agriculture, farmers and rural areas, considering agriculture and rural areas as important factors in socio-economic development. With advantages in climate and geographical location, Dong Nai province is forming a concentrated fruit growing area, with an area of ​​about 76,000 hectares, producing 700 thousand tons of various fruits, such as rambutan, grapefruit, durian, mangosteen, mango, banana, etc.

At the same time, in recent years, Dong Nai province has established 140 growing area codes and 81 packaging facilities for export (bananas, jackfruit, dragon fruit, mango, rambutan, lemon, durian, longan, lychee, watermelon); of which 103 growing area codes (bananas, jackfruit, mango, dragon fruit, rambutan, durian) serve the Chinese market and 37 growing area codes (mango, seedless lemon, rambutan) serve exports to Australia, New Zealand, the United States, the EU, etc.

Regarding durian, statistics show that the province currently has a total durian growing area of ​​over 11,300 hectares, ranking first in the Southeast region and fourth in the country. The harvested area is nearly 6,600 hectares and the expected output in 2023 is about 69,000 tons. Dong Nai is also a province that actively builds growing area codes and packaging facilities for export to the Chinese market. To date, the province has 11 durian growing areas with an area of ​​820 hectares that have been granted growing area codes. With this area and output, in 2023, Dong Nai is expected to export 20,000 tons of durian.
