The contest is a new feature of this year's festival, the voting results were conducted from 40 delicious dishes, representative of a total of more than 400 dishes from the units participating in the festival. The contest judges are experienced culinary experts, long-time culinary instructors and representatives of the organizing committee of the Culinary Culture Festival, Saigontourist Group Delicious Dishes 2024.
The jury members took turns visiting each competition venue to enjoy the decorative arts, then tasted the dishes while listening to the presentations of the dishes that each unit had carefully prepared, showing creativity in presentation as well as putting into them the passion and love for the dishes of their homeland. The journey of discovering and experiencing 40 dishes representing the units can be seen as an interesting culinary tour for the jury through the styles, flavors, and ingredients of the dishes bearing the identity of the three regions of the North, Central, and South.
The jury unanimously announced the results of "Top 10 dishes that must be tried at the Culinary Culture Festival, Saigontourist Group's Delicious Dishes 2024". The names of the dishes of the winning units (randomly arranged, not in order of ranking) are as follows: Grilled pork with mac mat leaves (Saigon - Ba Be and Saigon - Ban Gioc resorts), tuna eyes stewed with Chinese herbs (Saigon - Phu Yen hotel), Hoi An cao lau (Saigontourane hotel), grilled eel sausage from Nghe An (Saigon - Kim Lien hotel), Royal salted rice (Saigon - Morin hotel), Dalat artichoke chicken pho (Saigon - Da Lat hotel), herbal pork vermicelli (Rex Saigon hotel), Majestic perch vermicelli (Majestic Saigon hotel), herring salad (Saigon - Phu Quoc resort) and ostrich tendon stewed with ginseng ( Van Thanh tourist area).
Mr. Chiem Thanh Long - culinary expert, head of the contest jury - shared: "Through the contest, we realized that the participating units have carefully researched regional cuisine to express the culinary culture of their locality. Organizing a contest to vote for the top 10 must-try dishes is also a good idea of the festival organizers this year, thereby being considered as a suggestion for diners to easily find and choose dishes from more than 400 dishes at the festival. Among the voting criteria, we highly appreciate the criteria that the dishes must be delicious, attractive, beautifully decorated and especially must have the standard local and regional flavors".
10 units with dishes in the "Top 10 dishes that must be tried at the Saigontourist Group Food and Culture Festival 2024" were awarded a Recognition Board by the organizers, which was hung in front of the unit's booth. This is also an "identification mark" for festival diners to recognize, taste and experience the voted dishes, alongside their favorite dishes and drinks.
Saigontourist Group 2024 Food and Drink Culture Festival, organized by Saigon Tourist Corporation (Saigontourist Group), is open to the public from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. every day, continuously from March 28 to 31, 2024 at Van Thanh Tourist Area, Ho Chi Minh City. Coming to the festival , experienced chefs from more than 40 4-5 star hotels and resorts belonging to Saigontourist Group and a number of partners will introduce to the public more than 400 typical regional dishes at more than 40 culinary booths arranged into 3 regions: North, Central, South. Among them, there are many unique and strange delicacies introduced for the first time at the festival.
Visitors to the festival not only come to "eat", but also have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a space filled with a festive atmosphere imbued with the cultural identity of the three regions. Resonating with the culinary space is the "real-life" area of traditional craft villages, the folk game area and performances of traditional art forms in the form of a traveling show. In particular, in the craft village area, the folk cake village with more than 50 types of cakes, visitors can freely experience learning how to wrap leaves, grill, steam, fry cakes with artisans, learn how to make vermicelli, weave hats, make rice paper, grill rice paper, brew wine, and make fu ling cakes. These interactive activities are organized for diners to experience, try for free and enjoy the festival atmosphere, only at the Saigontourist Group Food and Drink Culture Festival 2024.
