Genuine Suzuki Jimny Revealed: License Plate Already Released, Coming Soon to Vietnamese Customers

(Dan Tri) - Genuine Suzuki Jimny appeared for the first time in Vietnam, looking at the equipment it looks quite similar to the high-end version in the international market.

The first images of the newly imported Suzuki Jimny have recently been shared on social media, attracting the attention of the community. The poster said the car was spotted in the Landmark 81 building area (Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City).

This is considered the first appearance of the genuine Suzuki Jimny (Photo: MsLinh).

Notably, this Jimny has the license plate 60LD. This joint venture license plate was registered in Dong Nai province by Suzuki Vietnam, most likely used for test driving or product promotion purposes. It also shows that this model has completed all procedures and is ready for official sale.

Previously, the dealer said that Suzuki Jimny is expected to be launched in Vietnam in November with a 3-door version. A consultant said the car will be officially priced at 789 million VND for the 1-tone exterior color option. If choosing 2-tone, users will need to spend an additional 10 million VND.

Suzuki Jimny is popular with Vietnamese customers thanks to its sporty off-road design, reminiscent of Mercedes' G-Class (Photo: MsLinh).

The rumored price is on par with some C-size SUVs like Hyundai Tucson or Mazda CX-5 but still "softer" than Suzuki Jimny in some other markets in the region. In Thailand, this model has the highest price of up to 1.79 million baht, equivalent to about 1.22 billion VND. In fact, Suzuki Jimny is not a product for the majority. The Japanese car company also limits the number of sales in the markets. There are sources saying that the number of Suzuki Jimny cars for Vietnam in 2023 is 150 units.

According to the information on the technical safety quality inspection certificate of Suzuki Jimny in Vietnam, the car is imported completely from Japan with the version name GLX AT (4-speed automatic transmission). The car is 3,645mm long and 1,645mm wide, which is only equal to A-class cars such as Hyundai Grand i10 or Kia Morning. However, Jimny is 1,720mm high. The alloy wheels are 15 inches, with 190/80 tires.

The interior of the Suzuki Jimny is quite simple with a 7-inch entertainment screen with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, fabric seats that can only be manually adjusted, and 1-zone air conditioning (Photo: Suzuki).

Under the hood, the Suzuki Jimny tested in Vietnam is equipped with a 1.5L naturally aspirated gasoline engine with a maximum capacity of 103 horsepower and a maximum torque of 138Nm. It can be seen that this model does not possess remarkable technical specifications but focuses on its "dusty" design and style.
