Exciting in Group G
The final round of the U.19 tournament may have a few new names. This can be said when witnessing the tension in Group G. This is a relatively balanced group with hope for 4 teams. U.19 Dong Thap and An Giang are 2 teams that are highly appreciated thanks to their long tradition. U.19 Tien Giang and Can Tho have surpassed with wins and draws to push the battle from a two-way or three-way to a four-way, causing the situation on the rankings to change dramatically after each round.
Even U.19 Vinh Long, considered the weakest team in the group, decided the fate of the teams above, the clearest evidence of which was the unbelievable 1-0 victory over An Giang.
Captain Nguyen Son Kiet (17) scored the only goal to help U.19 Vinh Long beat An Giang.
In the first leg, An Giang beat Vinh Long 5-1, so the close score and the 3 points won on January 24 by coach Nguyen Binh Thanh Vu and his team were truly shocking. The spirit of not giving up, playing comfortably, hitting An Giang's carelessness, helped Vinh Long win a worthy victory. The only goal was scored by captain Nguyen Son Kiet. In the remaining match, Dong Thap also beat Can Tho 1-0 with Le Huynh Trieu scoring.
U.19 Dong Thap won Can Tho
With this result, Group G has 2 teams with 11 points, Dong Thap and An Giang, Can Tho with 9 points and Tien Giang with 8 points. In which, An Giang and Can Tho have played 7 matches so they are at a disadvantage. An Giang will decide their own fate when they have to win against Dong Thap because if they draw, the possibility of being surpassed by Can Tho or Tien Giang is very high and will lose the second place in the group.
Although the home team Tien Giang is in fourth place, their hope will revive if they win all 2 matches (if Dong Thap of coach Trang Van Thanh loses 1 of the remaining 2 matches, they will have 14 points but will lose to Tien Giang). If Can Tho wins the remaining match and An Giang and Tien Giang both lose 1 match, coach Nguyen Phuoc Kha's team will take second place in the group and wait to be considered with the second-place teams of the other groups.
Will U.19 Tien Giang be a new name appearing in the final round?
New names likely to enter the finals
Besides U.19 Tien Giang, a new name because they have almost never appeared in the final round recently, it is likely that there will be 1 to 2 new names in the top 12. The most likely is Phu Yen in group E when this South Central team has 12 points, rising above the host Binh Phuoc (11 points) thanks to a 2-0 win over Tay Ninh. The reason why coach Pham Minh Tuan's team is full of hope is because they have 2 more matches, while their main competitor Dak Lak (11 points) thought they could get a ticket but lost to Lam Dong with an unbelievable score of 2-6. Dak Lak must beat Phu Yen in the next match to keep their hopes alive but will not decide for themselves because their opponent still has 1 more match left to play.
U.19 Phu Yen is playing impressively in group E.
Another new name is Ba Ria-Vung Tau. Although the squad is very young, nearly 90% of the force is only 16 years old, but the students of coach Doan Nhat Tien currently have 10 points and can completely threaten both U.19 Ho Chi Minh City and Long An (also 10 points). The two upcoming matches between Ba Ria-Vung Tau and Long An and Binh Duong will help decide whether the home team of Group F has a chance to win second place after Binh Duong or not.
In the match on January 24, U.19 Ho Chi Minh City revived hope after defeating Binh Duong 2-1 and Long An defeated Dong Nai 3-2. The three-way battle between Ho Chi Minh City, Long An and Ba Ria -Vung Tau will be intense until the last minute. Binh Duong alone has secured a ticket to the final round.
U.19 Ba Ria-Vung Tau won both matches against U.19 Ho Chi Minh City.
There were no surprises in the remaining groups. Group A, Hanoi regained hope of winning second place after The Cong Viettel, thanks to a 3-0 win over PVF-CAND, and in the procedural match, Nam Dinh won against Dao Ha Sports Center 6-1. Group B, the reigning champion of Dong A Thanh Hoa defeated U.19 Cong An Ha Noi 3-2 to secure second place after the host PVF.
Group C, Song Lam Nghe An secured a ticket to the final round after defeating Da Nang 2-1 with 2 goals from U.19 players Le Dinh Long Vu and Phung Van Nam. In the remaining procedural match, Quang Nam beat Quang Ngai 6-0. In this group, the team that ranked third last season, Da Nang, is at risk of being eliminated early. In Group D, Khanh Hoa beat Gama Vinh Phuc 2-0 to secure second place behind host LP Bank HAGL (who had already secured a ticket to the final round). In the remaining procedural match, Binh Dinh beat Kon Tum 3-1.
