TEMPO. Indonesian President Joko Widodo warned of the risk of rising food prices as more than 20 countries have restricted food exports.
DAILY MIRROR. Several floods have affected more than 5,000 people in Sri Lanka as water levels in many rivers continue to rise due to persistent heavy rain.
BANGKOK POST. Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin has called for prompt response to flooding occurring in several provinces upstream of Thailand.
IRNA. After joining BRICS, Iran may replace the SWIFT payment system with the BRICS Pay electronic payment system, Parliament Speaker Bagher Ghalibaf said.

REUTERS. Robert Fico , leader of the Smer Social Democratic Party (Smer-SD), which just won the Slovakian parliamentary election, said he wanted to be given the task of forming a new government.

ANADOLU. The Turkish Interior Ministry confirmed that the explosion that occurred near the Parliament building on October 1 was a “ terrorist attack ”, injuring two police officers.

REUTERS. EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said Ukraine needed more military aid and he promised continued EU support.
GUARDIAN. The British government wants to deploy military experts to Ukraine, in addition to training Ukrainian armed forces in the UK or other Western countries, according to Defense Secretary Grant Shapps.
BBC. The British government has awarded BAE Systems a £4 billion ($4.9 billion) contract as part of the AUKUS programme with Australia and the US to build attack submarines.
BLOOMBERG. UN Comtrade data shows that in the first half of 2023, Russia sold at least $6.6 billion worth of fertilizers to 57 countries, with Brazil, India and the United States as key customers.
XINHUA. China is willing to promote mutually beneficial cooperation with Germany and inject positive energy into the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership, Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng said at the China-Germany High-Level Financial Dialogue in Frankfurt on October 1.

CNN. After the US Senate passed a temporary budget bill on September 30, US President Joe Biden signed this short-term budget bill into law to prevent the risk of a partial government shutdown.
CNBC. The U.S. and Mexico pledged to address the root causes of the growing migration wave and boost cooperation in the semiconductor sector.

PTI. Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin at the Pentagon, discussing enhancing defence cooperation, including defence manufacturing.

AFRICA NEWS. The Senegalese navy has intercepted two boats carrying 272 passengers, the latest in a series of interceptions of migrant vessels trying to smuggle people to Europe.
SUNDAY MAIL. The death toll from the collapse of a gold mine in Chegutu, about 120 km west of the capital Harare, on September 29 has risen to at least 13, according to Zimbabwean Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.
AFP. As part of the investigation into the flood tragedy in Libya in early September that left tens of thousands of people dead and missing, Libyan Prosecutor General Al-Seddik al-Sour ordered the arrest of four more officials, bringing the total number of officials arrested to 12.
AFP. Libyan authorities announced that direct flights between Libya and Italy resumed on September 30, after nearly a decade of interruption, despite an EU flight ban imposed on Libyan airlines.
