TPO - A tunnel branch at the Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho intersection, District 7, is ready to open to traffic to reduce traffic congestion at the southern gateway of the city.
The Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho intersection underpass (right) is a key project of Ho Chi Minh City with a total investment of 830 billion VND (phase one). The project started in April 2020, initially expected to be completed in June 2022, but the progress was delayed many times due to the investor facing many difficulties in construction conditions in an area with very high traffic density. |
The investor and related departments and branches are focusing on speeding up the construction progress, trying to complete and put into operation the HC2 tunnel branch (from Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone to Binh Chanh district) on September 30 and the remaining HC1 tunnel branch before December 31, 2024. |
The units expected to complete and open the HC2 underpass on September 15, however, due to continuous rain and difficulties in construction, the opening time needs to be postponed to the end of September to ensure the quality of the project. |
The approach road at both ends of the tunnel is being compacted and paved with asphalt on September 28. |
According to the Management Board of Investment and Construction of Traffic Works in Ho Chi Minh City (Traffic Board), the project must be constructed while ensuring continuous traffic in an area with very high traffic density, so the construction process must be coordinated with many large-scale technical infrastructure management units such as water supply, drainage, electricity, telecommunications, and trees. |
Many items are constructed in 3 shifts a day to stick to the plan. |
Previously, at the construction site, contractors mobilized about 100 officers, engineers, workers, along with dozens of types of machinery and equipment to speed up progress. |
Seen from above, a branch opening to traffic helps reduce traffic pressure at the Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho intersection, while facilitating the construction of other items. |
Once completed and put into operation, the project will help reduce traffic congestion at the southern gateway intersection of Ho Chi Minh City. At the same time, it will create ventilation for the main road connecting the center of Ho Chi Minh City with Nha Be district and Hiep Phuoc port. |
