To ensure the safety of fishermen's lives and property during this tropical depression, in recent days, the Cua Sot Border Guard Station (Loc Ha) has coordinated with the Management Board of Ha Tinh Fishing Ports and Wharfs, local authorities and functional forces to closely monitor weather developments, promptly inform, remind and guide boats to ashore for shelter.
Thanks to that, before the sea became rough, more than 300 fishing boats of the province and about 40 fishing boats of other provinces with nearly 600 people anchored at Cua Sot fishing port (Thach Kim commune) and Lach Ken fishing port (Thinh Loc commune). In the shelter areas, the Border Guard also strengthened management, supported mooring of boats, and instructed people on how to protect people and property...

Lieutenant Colonel Le Huu Dong - Deputy Head of the Cua Sot Border Guard Station informed: "With the role of the main force in carrying out search and rescue missions at sea, this rainy and stormy season, we have proactively developed a plan that is close to reality, prepared means and equipment (the unit's canoe, large fishing boat contract, 100 life jackets and other supporting tools), ensuring 100% of the staff on duty, and always have smooth communication. The unit also strengthens the management and control of boats going out to sea, encouraging fishermen to work in teams to support each other when encountering problems".
To mitigate the consequences of natural disasters and participate in search and rescue, coastal border units have proactively developed plans. Officers and soldiers in the force are always fully aware of their responsibilities and duties, and are ready to act when ordered.
Lieutenant Colonel Ho Manh Hung - Political Commissar of Lach Ken Border Guard Station said: “To contribute to ensuring the safety of nearly 1,000 fishing boats and more than 2,000 fishermen of 9 coastal communes of Nghi Xuan district during the stormy season, we have proactively coordinated with the Xuan Hoi Fishing Port Management Board and local authorities to organize inspections, surveys, and grasp the number of boats, fishermen, and production situation at sea. At the same time, we have integrated propaganda and mobilized fishermen to fully equip themselves with GPS devices and walkie-talkies, regularly turn on journey monitoring when going to sea, and strictly comply with regulations on ensuring safety.
In addition, the unit also increased patrols and control of river mouths, estuaries, and at sea and is ready to participate in rescue, search and rescue, and overcome the consequences if natural disasters occur.
Officers of Squadron 2 are constantly on duty at the radio station, monitoring weather developments, proactively receiving information about accidents at sea, and accurately calculating coordinates for timely and effective rescue.
On the Vietnam - Laos border, the Ha Tinh Border Guard force is also proactively responding to heavy rain, flash floods, landslides, and flooding and is ready to participate in rescue and relief efforts. Major Dang Thai Mai - Deputy Political Commissar of Huong Quang Border Post informed: "During the rainy and stormy season, we have a plan to increase patrols and control in the Ngan Truoi - Cam Trang lake area, locations with high risk of insecurity in the border area and to propagate, remind, and limit people from going to unsafe places. We have also prepared human resources, means, and tools to promptly support the authorities and people in the border area, the communes adjacent to the stationed area in natural disaster prevention, rescue and relief work".

According to statistics, on average, each year, Ha Tinh Border Guard mobilizes thousands of officers and soldiers to participate in natural disaster prevention, of which about 500 officers and soldiers participate in rescue; mobilizes dozens of canoes, cars, and motorbikes to evacuate people and property in vulnerable areas to safe places when natural disasters occur; calls for, arranges, and ties up about 2,000 boats/nearly 3,000 workers to avoid storms; rescues about 10 - 13 cases/12 - 14 vehicles/40 - 45 crew members...
