Some psychological therapies such as individual therapy, couples therapy, and medication can help reduce premature ejaculation in men.

Premature ejaculation is a condition in which men reach orgasm too quickly and cannot control it. This is the biggest problem that makes men feel annoyed in their sexual life. Premature ejaculation is quite common, statistics in the US show that in the age of 18 to 59, one in three men have this condition.

According to Dr. Stanley E. Althof, Florida Center for Marital and Sexual Health (USA), in addition to pathological factors, psychological factors are also the cause of aggravating or promoting premature ejaculation. Intervention with psychological therapies will help overcome this condition.

There are many psychological interventions including: individual therapy, couples therapy and drug therapy.

Individual therapy : Individual therapy aims to find the cause and relieve pressure for men. The doctor will check the medical history to see if the man has any fear of women, or if they have been abused or sexually exploited in childhood... After finding the source of the psychological influence, the doctor will give specific techniques to help control ejaculation and control anxiety.

Couples Therapy : This therapy is for men who are married or in a committed relationship. The therapy involves both men and women working toward a common goal. Together, they can explore and address issues that contribute to premature ejaculation. Some techniques and solutions are more effective when used together.

Combination therapy with medication : According to Dr. Althof, combining medication with psychological therapy can bring the best results. The effects of some delay ejaculation medications can help build confidence, before applying psychological therapy. Over time, the man can forget the feeling of being aroused and focus on other feelings. After achieving the desired effect, the man gradually stops taking the medication and focuses on adjusting his psychology.

Psychological treatments for sexual problems are called sex therapy. They aim at goals including: learning techniques to control or delay ejaculation, gaining confidence in sexual activity, reducing performance anxiety, resolving interpersonal issues that lead to dysfunction, enhancing communication...
