BTO- The Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control has just informed that in the first week of June 2023, in the districts of Bac Binh, Tanh Linh, Ham Tan, Ham Thuan Bac... extreme weather phenomena continuously occurred, causing serious damage to people and property.

Accordingly, at around 3:40 p.m. on June 4, in Hong Thai commune (Bac Binh), there was localized heavy rain, causing flash floods and landslides. The consequences buried and damaged about 30 hectares of cassava and 27 hectares of melon seeds that were newly planted 15 days old. The estimated damage was over 320 million VND.

In Tanh Linh district, the district's Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said that the locality has just overcome the consequences of flooding, minimizing damage to 300 hectares of summer-autumn rice that was partially flooded by heavy rain on the night of June 2-3. Specifically, at that time, the district experienced heavy rain, water from mountain streams flowing into agricultural fields could not drain in time, causing flooding in the summer-autumn crop production area of ​​the people.

The most severely affected area is Mang To commune, causing local flooding of about 300 hectares of summer-autumn rice (30 days old) in Dong Chua, Dong 365, Dong B, Dong A, Dong Tu Tuc and Dong Bau Tre. Facing the risk of rice damage, local authorities have actively dredged and cleared irrigation canals and streams in the area. Currently, the water has receded promptly, causing no damage to the summer-autumn rice production areas of the people. In addition, to prevent the risk of flooding in the future, the People's Committee of Mang To commune is continuing to collect trash and dredge the stream system in residential areas and the local irrigation canal drainage system. At the same time, instructing people to take care of flooded areas, fertilize and plant trees promptly to minimize damage to agricultural production areas in the area.

In Tan Nghia town (Ham Tan), at around 3:30 p.m. on June 2, there was rain accompanied by localized tornadoes, gusting with relatively strong and fast intensity, affecting the area of ​​​​wards 2 and 4, Tan Nghia town. The consequences left 2 people injured and 7 houses with roofs blown off and damaged. The estimated damage was over 830 million VND.

Previously, at 5:30 p.m. on June 1, it rained in Ham Liem commune (Ham Thuan Bac). During the rain, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and strong whirlwinds occurred in group 6, village 5, killing 1 person. The victim was Pham Van H. (born in 1983), residing locally. Immediately after the incident, local authorities sent officials to grasp the situation, encourage the family and deploy support according to regulations. On the other hand, mobilized local forces and people to promptly overcome the consequences caused by heavy rain, helping people stabilize their lives soon.

According to the assessment of the professional agency, the weather situation in the coming days will continue to be complicated, unusual and unpredictable. There is a possibility of extreme natural disasters such as localized heavy rain causing flash floods, landslides, thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning, hail, etc. Therefore, it is recommended that localities and people regularly monitor the weather, thunderstorms, lightning, landslides to proactively respond and handle the situation.
