Nokia and Dell form strategic partnership to develop 5G and cloud

Nokia and Dell have charted a new path forward for businesses with a partnership focused on accelerating private 5G deployments and transforming networks to cloud environments. As businesses increasingly look to own, operate or lease private 5G networks, this alliance is a timely strategic move.

Nokia AirFrame customers, which are focused on the cloud data center market, are expected to move to Dell's dedicated PowerEdge servers, which are specifically designed to efficiently support the complex data volumes of telecommunications networks.

Dell has also selected Nokia’s Digital Automation Cloud (NDAC) as its own wireless platform to meet certain needs of its enterprise customers. This development furthers the existing relationship between the two giants as they work to integrate NDAC with Dell’s NativeEdge – an advancement that strengthens the open network architecture, supporting a seamless ecosystem for telecommunications and private business applications.

In addition, Nokia Chief Strategy and Technology Officer Nishant Batra highlighted the company’s commitment to continuous innovation to meet the growing demands of networks. The partnership is aimed not only at creating solutions for communications service providers, but also at driving scale and the transition to cloud architecture.

This collaboration is further enriched with joint research and development initiatives, including the Dell Open Telecommunications Ecosystem Lab, where both companies will continue to experiment with platforms and applications, maintaining the momentum of technological advancement in 5G and cloud services.
