Possessing diverse, rich and unique natural resources, along with the orientation of developing tourism into a spearhead economic sector, in recent times, Binh Thuan province has proactively and synchronously implemented many solutions on infrastructure investment, diversifying tourism products, diversifying markets, creating and innovating in promoting, advertising and communicating the image of Binh Thuan tourism.

Regional linkage for tourism development

Despite its great potential, the province's tourism development is still modest, not on par with its inherent position and potential. Although tourism products have improved, they have not created a breakthrough and have not had a strong attraction for tourists. Therefore, in the past time, the province has always focused on and had many cooperation programs to develop tourism with provinces such as Ho Chi Minh City, Lam Dong, Vung Tau, Tuyen Quang, Binh Phuoc. Most recently, on October 24, 2023, Binh Thuan continued to sign a cooperation program to develop culture, sports and tourism with Ninh Thuan province, in order to promote the development of diversified tourism products, connect destinations, create unique tourism products, and form a unique tourism program with the brand name "Two localities - One destination". Accordingly, the two provinces will coordinate to organize a survey program to promote and develop tourism products and new local tourism programs, on that basis, orient tourism businesses to cooperate to build a tourism program connecting routes and tourist destinations of Binh Thuan and Ninh Thuan.

On the path of tourism development, this issue has always been of great concern to the locality and the industry in order to effectively exploit potentials and advantages on the principle of equal cooperation for mutual benefit. It is known that since 2007, Binh Thuan province has signed and implemented the program of linking the Tourism Development Triangle "Binh Thuan - Lam Dong - Ho Chi Minh City" and achieved encouraging results. The linkage is considered a practical solution, promoting the potential and exploiting the advantages of tourism development of localities, in accordance with the inter-regional characteristics of tourism. Regional cooperation in product development and tourism promotion also builds brands and markets the province's destinations, contributes to more effective resource coordination, creates conditions for expanding tourism space, diversifying and connecting tourism products in the region, creating conditions for the business community to build and develop products, and for tourists to have more choices, thereby contributing to increasing the attractiveness of the destination, supporting connections and effectively exploiting tourism resources and products. Located in the key tourism area of ​​the region, it is seen that cooperation and association have become a strong trend. Because now, the transportation infrastructure is convenient, tourists often want to travel by themselves and explore many destinations during the trip. Cooperation activities in tourism promotion and advertising also partly solve the problem of funding in promotion and advertising activities. With the joint sharing of funds, localities have joined together to organize promotional programs in key markets, contributing to promoting the image of local tourism to the market, creating conditions for domestic tourism businesses to connect with international businesses to build suitable tourism products, attracting international visitors to the locality.

Towards sustainable development

In addition to the successes achieved, regional linkage activities and public-private cooperation in tourism development also face many difficulties such as: Resources allocated for product development, tourism promotion and advertising are limited and uneven among localities; regional linkage activities are only at the level of information exchange and coordination in implementing existing tourism development activities, without innovation, prominence and have not yet formed a distinctive mark of the region. Tourism products in the linkage chain are still overlapping and monotonous; there are no clear coordination regulations and assignments among localities in the region to solve tourism development issues... To develop sustainably in regional linkages to build products and promote and advertise tourism, it is necessary to link to build and develop tourism products and exploit sources of visitors. On the basis of forming and developing local typical products, promoting the linkage of provinces in the region to form strong product clusters to create inter-regional destinations, specialized products such as cultural tourism, eco-tourism, sea tourism... to create attractive common product packages. In addition, it is necessary to promote tourism promotion and advertising activities at home and abroad regularly and continuously with the participation and close coordination of all provinces, management agencies and travel businesses. At the same time, there is a unified and synchronous training program to enhance the capacity of local management staff, vocational training, foreign languages ​​for workers in the tourism industry, raise awareness and train and coach the community to participate in tourism activities between localities in the region to ensure the quality of services. Continue to improve cooperation and linkage programs in training and developing professional and quality tourism human resources, ensuring national and regional occupational standards...
