In 2018, Mr. Duong The Anh's family in An Ninh village, Long Dong commune, Bac Son district built 2 livestock barns with a total area of 2,200m2. After completing the barns, he cooperated with Japfa Comfeed Vietnam Co., Ltd. to raise about 20-25 thousand chickens/batch.
Mr. Duong The Anh said: By participating in the chicken farming association, the family is supported by the company to invest in automatic feeding and watering systems, transfer care techniques and is provided with breeds and food on a deferred payment basis. After about 3 months of raising, the company will purchase the finished chickens and deduct the supply fee in advance, the rest is paid to the farmer. On average, the family raises 3 batches each year, after deducting all expenses, the revenue is from 700 to 800 million VND/year.
In Bac Son district, there are currently 5 livestock households that are linked with large livestock companies (4 chicken households, 1 pig household).
Mr. Pham Ba Hanh, Head of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Bac Son district, shared: In the district, there are 8 households raising chickens and pigs on a large scale, of which 5 households are implementing the livestock farming method in association with large livestock companies. Many households raising livestock in the association method in the district have profits of 500 million VND/year or more. Currently, the development of livestock farms in the association method is being studied by many households in communes and towns in the district and they are aiming to sign association contracts.
In the province, there are currently 15 households raising livestock and poultry in some districts such as Bac Son, Huu Lung, Van Quan, Trang Dinh, which are cooperating with large livestock companies such as: Japfa Comfeed Vietnam Co., Ltd., Vietnam Livestock Joint Stock Company, Tho Xuan Livestock Company... The scale of the households raising livestock under the cooperation method is quite large (households raising pigs from 4,000 heads/batch or more; chickens from 10,000 heads/batch or more). |
It is known that in the province, there are currently 15 households raising livestock and poultry in some districts such as Bac Son, Huu Lung, Van Quan, Trang Dinh, which are cooperating with large livestock companies such as: Japfa Comfeed Vietnam Co., Ltd., Vietnam Livestock Joint Stock Company, Tho Xuan Livestock Company... Accordingly, the scale of households raising livestock under the linkage method is quite large (households raising pigs from 4,000 heads/batch or more; chickens from 10,000 heads/batch or more). On average, households participating in raising livestock and poultry in association with large livestock companies, after deducting expenses, have an income of 500 to 800 million VND/year (depending on the scale).
According to the sharing from the associated livestock households, when signing a contract with large livestock companies, the most obvious benefit received is that economic efficiency is doubled, while the initial investment cost is reduced by 30% compared to before the association.
Specifically, when participating in the association, livestock households are provided with breeding stock, feed, veterinary medicine, etc. right from the beginning without having to pay any costs immediately and after selling products to the company, the initial investment costs are deducted. Not only that, the prices of breeding stock, feed, and veterinary medicine of the associated livestock company for livestock households are also preferential. Input costs are reduced, product prices are stable, so the income is high.
Furthermore, linking with large livestock companies also helps livestock farmers manage the quality of food sources and breeds right from the start, ensuring technical processes in livestock farming so that livestock are less susceptible to disease.
Discussing this joint livestock farming model, Mr. Nguyen Nam Hung, Head of the Department of Livestock, Aquaculture and Veterinary Medicine, Department of Agriculture and Environment said: The association between livestock farming households and large livestock farming companies has helped livestock farming households to share benefits and limit disease risks, while at the same time, products are stably consumed, bringing in very high economic efficiency.
Ms. Dinh Thi Thu, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, said: In the context of climate change and infectious diseases in livestock that still have many potential complex developments, livestock farming in association with large livestock companies is currently a livestock farming model that brings many benefits. The Department of Agriculture and Environment has been closely coordinating with districts and cities to develop detailed plans for suitable livestock production development areas, attracting businesses to invest and cooperate in livestock development; implementing propaganda measures, mobilizing households and livestock establishments to proactively invest in infrastructure, thereby having enough initial conditions to carry out cooperation with large livestock companies.
The association between livestock households in the province and large livestock companies (owning technology, capital, techniques, breeds and product consumption) has brought "double" benefits to livestock households, contributing to the scale of livestock and poultry farming in the province to grow larger and more sustainably.
