The 42nd National Television Festival - 2025: Innovation, creativity, acceleration, breakthrough

Taking place from March 19 to 22 in Quy Nhon City, the 42nd National Television Festival - 2025 continues to be a meaningful activity for Vietnamese television workers. Here, 54 gold awards, 98 silver awards, 223 consolation awards and 3 individual awards for groups of authors with excellent works in 11 genres were honored.

Affirming the role of the voice of the times

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam - General Director of Vietnam Television (VTV), Chairman of the Festival, said: The Festival is not only a journey to find outstanding works but also an opportunity for professionals to look back, learn and orient the development of television in the future. Through each festival season, Vietnam Television recognizes and changes to continue to develop strongly, break through to reach greater successes and serve the audience better.

At this festival, the Documentary genre is still one of the key genres, the way of expression is close and addresses the major issues of the country and current events. The works of the Short Reportage genre have closely followed the current events, reflecting all aspects of life, creating a vivid and colorful picture; the outstanding themes are storms and floods, the spirit of mutual love, compatriotism, the support of the armed forces for people in distress; the theme of streamlining and reorganizing the state apparatus is also mentioned.

In addition, Video on digital platforms is a new genre, focused on by units, unlimited creativity, bringing unique perspectives and reaching audiences quickly. Journalist Dinh Tran Viet - Director of VTV's Center for Digital Content Production and Development, Head of the Jury for the Video on Digital Platform category, said: At the 41st Festival, the Jury did not award a gold prize, but this year we have found the work that won the highest prize. The Jury has carefully analyzed, closely following the criteria for this genre, including reference to interactivity, views, shares, comments, likes... as well as creativity, how to exploit the topic; how to express the topic; content visualization skills; search optimization, social effects...

For the host unit, in addition to coordinating in the organization, Binh Dinh Radio and Television Station also made special investments in many works, thereby winning 3 gold prizes, 3 silver prizes, and 3 consolation prizes. Winning the gold prize for the work Responding to Monuments in the Short Report category on the first time participating, the group of authors Ngo Thi Phu Hoa, Nguyen Phan Dung Nhan and Nguyen Quoc Anh (Binh Dinh Radio and Television Station) considered the process of making the work both an opportunity and a big challenge. Reporter Nguyen Phan Dung Nhan shared: As soon as the topic was discovered, the team quickly implemented it. Although there were difficulties due to unfavorable weather, prolonged rain and wind affected the filming process, causing some camera angles to be limited, these challenges unintentionally created emotional images, suitable for the content of the short report. Personally, I also invested in additional equipment to shoot timelapse, to increase the depth and impression of the work.

Spread, develop tourism and communicate Binh Dinh

The successful festival left many emotions for those working in television, not only through professional exchanges but also through impressions of the friendly, beautiful land of Binh Dinh, with a long history and rich cultural identity.

Attending the closing ceremony of the 42nd National Television Festival - 2025 on the evening of March 22, on the Central side were comrades: Pham Minh Chinh - Politburo member, Prime Minister; Le Hai Binh - Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Phan Xuan Thuy, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission; Nguyen Thanh Lam - General Director of Vietnam Television, Chairman of the 42nd National Television Festival...

On the provincial side, there were comrades: Ho Quoc Dung - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Le Kim Toan - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Pham Anh Tuan - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; comrades in the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee; leaders of departments, branches and localities.

Even when the Festival has just begun, some new activities continue to be added, such as organizing a traditional art performance program of Bài Chòi, hát bội... for the delegations participating in the Festival. Mr. Nguyen Truong Thanh, Director of the Festival Information Center, commented: I think this is a valuable effort of the locality, aiming to promote the image of the people and traditional culture of Binh Dinh to a large number of delegates and people.

Within the framework of the Festival's activities, on March 22, the Vietnamese Heart Fund (VTV) in coordination with the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province organized a ceremony to hand over gratitude houses to 10 households, 3 schools (An Dung Kindergarten, An Lao district; Vinh Hoa Kindergarten and Vinh Thuan Primary & Secondary School, Vinh Thanh district); donated funds to build 2 bridges, and 50 scholarships for students in difficult circumstances. Along with that, the Fund also organized free congenital heart disease screening for children under 18 years old in the province and neighboring provinces, with the support of cardiovascular specialists from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City.

Binh Dinh province also organized a tour program for the delegations attending the Festival, following 2 routes: Twin Towers - Lang Song Minor Seminary - Center for Scientific Discovery and Innovation; Eo Gio - Green Stone Road - Ky Co. In addition, many delegates also enjoyed unique traditional art forms such as hat boi, bai choi, and traditional martial arts.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan said: As the host, Binh Dinh province has closely coordinated with VTV to carefully prepare and create the most favorable conditions for the Festival to take place successfully. We hope that through this event, the image of Binh Dinh will be spread more widely, contributing to promoting socio-economic development, especially the local tourism and media industry.

“The Television industry is a bridge between the Party, the State and the people; it must break through with a new mindset, new ways of doing things, looking far and wide, thinking deeply and doing big things.

In the period when the country is changing strongly, entering a new era, building a rich, civilized and prosperous country, the role of press and television is even more important. I propose that the Television industry proactively master technology, anticipate the trend of multimedia communication; continue to be the main information channel to convey the policies of the Party, State and Government to the people in a truthful, impartial, transparent, complete and comprehensive manner, all for the benefit of the country, the nation, for the benefit of the people; create many attractive, in-depth programs with humanistic values, vividly reflecting the breath and pulse of life and strongly inspiring the entire civilized, cultured and heroic Vietnamese people.

I hope that Vietnam Television will continue to promote digital transformation, develop a multi-platform television ecosystem, focus on the audience, wholeheartedly serve the Fatherland and the people; reorganize the apparatus scientifically, streamlined, efficient, effective, and efficient to develop, break through, and integrate internationally; form a national digital television ecosystem, open up new creative and development spaces, and make stronger breakthroughs for the goal of a rich people, strong country, democracy, fairness, and civilization."
