From April 22 to April 26, 2024, at the Dien Bien Provincial Cultural Conference Center, the National Library Staff Festival will take place to promote the development of reading culture and introduce books to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024), with the theme "Dien Bien - Forever resounding heroic epic". The program is jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) and the People's Committee of Dien Bien province; Implementing unit: Department of Libraries - Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Coordinating unit: Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dien Bien province.
The festival is one of the important activities of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024), aiming to introduce and disseminate documents, books and newspapers about the historic Dien Bien Phu victory "famous in five continents, shaking the world" ending the 9-year long resistance war against the French colonialists, marking a great turning point in the history of the nation's struggle to build and defend the country, closely associated with the glorious history of 80 years of construction, fighting and growth of the Vietnam People's Army; thereby arousing love for the homeland, country, national pride, aspiration to contribute, build and develop a prosperous and happy country among all classes of people, especially the young generation.
For the library industry, the Festival is one of many activities to enhance, innovate and apply information technology in propaganda work, bringing about effectiveness and strong spread, contributing to encouraging reading and promoting the development of reading culture in the community.
The festival was attended by 42 delegations with nearly 1,200 library staff - representing more than 10,000 librarians from 63 provinces/cities, armed forces libraries, and university libraries nationwide.
The books introduced by the library delegations at the Festival are a rich and diverse source of documents, currently stored and served to readers at libraries, providing viewers with comprehensive information about the historic victory of Dien Bien Phu; about General Vo Nguyen Giap - the legendary general of humanity and the characters participating in the campaign; about the glorious history through 80 years of building, fighting and growing of the Vietnam People's Army; about the heroic memories of the veterans of the past and about a renewed Dien Bien today.
The Opening Ceremony and all days of the Festival will be open to local residents and students in the City to attend for free. In addition, the Festival Organizing Committee will rebroadcast the Festival Program of all 42 library groups on the YouTube channel Books and Vietnamese Wisdom for people to access, review and vote for the most favorite Program. Based on the number of nominations on the channel, the Organizing Committee will award the Program with the most votes from the audience.
Within the framework of the Festival, the Organizing Committee will display and exhibit books, newspapers, and documents introducing the historic Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024), the 80-year history of building, fighting, and growing of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024), the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day (December 22, 1989 - December 22, 2024) and some images of reading promotion activities of organizations and individuals who have contributed to the development of reading culture.
The Festival Opening Ceremony will take place at 7:30 p.m. on April 23, 2024 at the Dien Bien Provincial Cultural Conference Center.
The Closing, Summary and Award Ceremony of the Festival will take place at 4:00 p.m. on April 26, 2024 at the same location./.
