Binh Duong Club goes downhill, Hanoi sticks close to the top of V-League
This is also the third recent loss of the team from the land of Thu, alternating with a draw with the bottom team Da Nang in round 18 of the V-League. Playing 4 matches but only earning 1 point, including 2 losses at home, shows the declining performance of the team that was once considered a force in Vietnamese football. Before this season, the leadership of Binh Duong Club also showed ambition when adding many quality domestic players, plus national players such as Tien Linh, Vi Hao, Minh Khoa... and invited coach Hoang Anh Tuan to lead.
However, when entering the tournament, the biggest problem of the team in the land of Thu was revealed, that is, the foreign players were of too poor quality, not meeting professional requirements. Mr. Hoang Anh Tuan left the team early after a few matches at the beginning of the season, and young coach Nguyen Cong Manh was promoted to replace him. Although he had quite good results in the first matches, towards the end of the tournament, coach Cong Manh showed that he was not capable of steering Binh Duong Club to break away. That was also the reason why Mr. Manh resigned right at the press conference after yesterday's match.

Returning to the match against Hanoi FC, Binh Duong FC players played poorly. The 2024 Vietnam Golden Ball winner Nguyen Tien Linh had to wait until the 77th minute to have a dangerous shot towards the capital team, but it was inaccurate. Throughout the match, the striker considered the main force of the Vietnam team at this time was lost on the field. The fact that central defender Que Ngoc Hai left the field early also partly caused Binh Duong's defense to become disorganized, and 2 goals conceded within just 5 minutes (from minutes 52 to 57) scored by Tuan Hai and an own goal by Abdurakhmanov caused Tien Linh and his teammates to collapse early and accept defeat.
This result caused Binh Duong FC to fall to the middle of the rankings, in 7th place with 25 points; while Hanoi FC showed its revival after changing coaches, when it is only 1 point behind the top team Nam Dinh (with 1 match left to play). If it continues to maintain this form, Hanoi FC will be the championship competitor with the team from Thanh Nam in the remaining stages of the V-League.
Meanwhile, Thanh Hoa FC, after 3 recent matches without a win since parting ways with coach Popov, surprisingly came from behind to defeat The Cong Viettel FC 3-1 at home (Ribamar scored a hat-trick for Thanh Hoa, Pedro scored for The Cong Viettel). This result helped the Thanh team take the 3rd place from The Cong Viettel FC when they had the same 30 points but had a better sub-coefficient.
Da Nang crosses big mountains
Today, round 19 continues with the remaining 2 matches: Da Nang vs Nam Dinh (6pm) and SLNA vs Quang Nam (6pm). The results of these 2 matches will affect the relegation of Da Nang, SLNA and Quang Nam, the teams at the bottom of the table.

Only by winning against the top team Nam Dinh, Da Nang FC (10 points) will have a chance to escape the bottom position of the table because the team above them, Binh Dinh, lost in this round (16 points). However, with a seriously damaged squad, the chance of the Han River team is too slim against a Nam Dinh team that is eager to win to defend the championship.
