U.22 Vietnam plays bronze medal match with U.22 Myanmar

Coach Philippe Troussier and his team equalized twice against their opponents and had the advantage of playing with one more player in the second half after defender Pratama Arhan's red card. However, U.22 Vietnam conceded a goal in the 90+6 minute, thereby becoming the former champion. In the remaining match, U.22 Thailand defeated U.22 Myanmar with a score of 3-0 to enter the final. The "War Elephants" will play U.22 Indonesia, this is a match that is predicted to be dramatic and unpredictable, because the two teams have had balanced performances since the beginning of the tournament.

Back to the defeat of U.22 Vietnam. The whole team conceded an early goal after Komang's header in the 10th minute. Then Troussier's team equalized thanks to Van Tung's goal. In the second half, once again Pratama's throw-in brought the lead to U.22 Indonesia when Marselino Ferdinan rushed in and finished the second line into the goal. U.22 Vietnam had an advantage of one more player when Pratama received a red card in the 58th minute. Van Tung and his teammates equalized 2-2, but lost 2-3 in extra time after Taufany's dangerous cross-angle shot. U.22 Vietnam could not successfully defend the SEA Games 32 gold medal, but still needed to make an effort in the bronze medal match.

Coach Troussier emphasized that the players need to have the right attitude towards failure and U.22 Vietnam will prove that the defeat at the SEA Games will be a motivation for the whole team to try harder.
