Hanoi University of Science and Technology has just released the latest information regarding the 2025 Thinking Skills Assessment Exam (TSA). According to the announcement, the TSA exam is expected to be held in three sessions on weekends, with each session having 3-4 testing teams at 30 testing locations.
In addition to the previously established examination sites, the school will open a new site to support students in the Northwest region (an examination site in Lao Cai province). The exam can accommodate approximately 75,000 test-takers. Specific information regarding the exam sessions is as follows:
Phase 1: Exam dates: January 18-19, 2025; Registration opens: December 1-6, 2024
Phase 2: Exam dates: March 8-9, 2025; Registration opens: February 1-6, 2025
Phase 3: Exam dates: April 26-27, 2025; Registration opens: April 1-6, 2025

To align with the Ministry of Education and Training 's new general education curriculum, since 2023, the content and format of the TSA exam have been implemented as designed and will remain stable for many years to come.

Accordingly, the TSA exam consists of three sections: Mathematical Reasoning (60 minutes), Reading Comprehension Reasoning (30 minutes), and Scientific Reasoning/Problem Solving (60 minutes). These are three independent sections, and the questions will focus on assessing the candidate's thinking ability in each section, not directly testing knowledge of any particular subject.
The exam is computer-based, multiple-choice, and the results will be valid for two years for university admissions purposes.
Hanoi University of Science and Technology stated that many modern testing technologies have been applied to this exam, such as standardized reasoning question construction technology, bridge theory in the exam, multi-parameter IRT grading technology, and automatic check-in technology using citizen identification cards integrated with a personal data management system to identify candidates attending the exam in order to thoroughly prevent cheating and fraud in examinations…
In 2024, Hanoi University of Science and Technology organized 6 exam sessions on weekends with 30 exam locations in Hanoi and 11 provinces and cities including Hung Yen, Hai Duong, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, and Da Nang; accommodating nearly 50,000 exam sessions with a total of 21,000 candidates.
The results of the exam have been used by more than 50 universities for their university admissions process for the 2024-2025 academic year.
