“Teacher” of the present and the future
The concept of history often evokes the idea of revolving with the past, memories, legends - all that has receded behind the curtain of time. That is a mechanical, one-way understanding. History is not only the past but also the teacher of the present and the future. Each of us looks into the past to know, to understand, to draw lessons and experiences from which to determine the direction and goals for the path ahead. On the contrary, when we distance ourselves from history, we are far from our origins and roots. A tree without strong roots will soon shake, lose its resistance, a gust of wind is enough to uproot and break the tree. "A generation that turns its back on history is a generation without a past, and without a future", the saying of Robert A Heinlein is a wake-up call.
Reality has proven: Our people have gone through the “dark night”, broken the chains of slavery, and achieved the great victory of the August Revolution in 1945, always with a stream of strength, faith, great motivation and valuable lessons from our ancestors, from the smoke and fire of the battlefield during the period of building and defending the country. That great victory, that “unprecedented leap forward in human history” has left behind lessons worth pondering, still intact in practical value, burning with the spirit of the times. Valuable lessons about seizing opportunities, “using our own strength to liberate ourselves”; lessons about maintaining and promoting the leadership role of the Communist Party in the revolutionary process and lessons about national solidarity, promoting the great strength of the masses to carry out the revolution of liberation and development.
The historical process of the nation continues with brilliant milestones. Behind all those successes, there is always a solid historical "pedestal" supporting the entire nation, including the heroic and gallant Thanh land. Thanh land is an ancient land, likened to "Vietnam in miniature"; a land with a particularly important strategic position, rich in historical, cultural and revolutionary traditions, always accompanying the glorious cause of building and defending the country of the nation. "The fundamental land", the homeland of many national heroes and feudal dynasties of Vietnam, along with many famous civil and military mandarins and generals in the history of the nation, ... has created the cultural tradition and people of Thanh Hoa with many good values: "Thanh Hoa has towering mountains, winding rivers, the sea to the East, Ai Lao to the West, bordering Nam Son town to the North, Nghe An province to the South. The mountains and rivers are very beautiful, a place with beautiful scenery in a key place. Previous dynasties still called it an important town. The Le Dynasty was the foundation. The beautiful landscape of the country gave birth to many kings and generals, the elite gathered together, giving birth to many scholars. Even the precious products were different from other places. Because the sacred land had talented people, it gave birth to extraordinary people. The prosperous energy was united, so it was worthy to be the top of the whole country" ("Historical Records of the Dynasties", Phan Huy Chu).
To let cultural and human resources advance the aspirations of Thanh land
History - culture - people, that is the great driving force, the precious source of "endogenous strength" that Thanh Hoa is honored and proud to have. Therefore, besides economic, social, environmental issues..., the task of building and developing Thanh Hoa culture and people to meet the requirements of industrialization, modernization and international integration is always of interest and focus to the Party Committee, government and people. Especially in the current context, the 4.0 era, technology - information like a storm, deep international integration has opened up opportunities but also posed countless difficulties and challenges. The most profound mark is the birth of Resolution No. 17-NQ/TU dated July 4, 2024 of the Provincial Party Committee on continuing to build and develop Thanh Hoa culture and people in the new period.
Resolution No. 17-NQ/TU clearly states the viewpoint: Thanh Hoa culture and people are a solid material and spiritual foundation, an endogenous resource, an important driving force for the province's rapid and sustainable development. Cultural development must be placed on par with economic, political and social development; investment in culture and people is investment for rapid and sustainable development. Building and developing Thanh Hoa culture and people on the basis of preserving and promoting the fine traditional cultural values of the homeland; at the same time, proactively and selectively absorbing the quintessence of national and contemporary culture, ensuring suitability, enriching the cultural values of the homeland.
The general goal of Resolution No. 17-NQ/TU is to build and comprehensively develop Thanh Hoa culture and people, aiming at the values of truth - goodness - beauty, on the basis of inheriting and promoting the good cultural values, historical and revolutionary traditions of the homeland, selectively absorbing the cultural quintessence of the nation and humanity. Constantly improve the material and spiritual life of the people, narrow the gap in cultural enjoyment between regions in the province. Take care to build a healthy, civilized and progressive cultural environment in families, clans, residential areas, agencies and units. Build an advanced literature and art, imbued with national identity; develop high-quality cultural and tourism products imbued with the characteristics of Thanh land. Focus on investing resources for comprehensive development of culture and people, which is a solid material and spiritual foundation, truly becoming an important driving force and endogenous strength to promote Thanh Hoa's rapid and sustainable development; striving to become a rich, civilized and modern province by 2030; and by 2045, a comprehensively developed and "model" province of the whole country.
The viewpoints and objectives of Resolution No. 17-NQ/TU show the absorption, flexible and creative application of President Ho Chi Minh's thoughts on building and developing culture and people into practice: "Culture lights the way for the nation", "No matter what, it is done by people, and from small to large, from near to far, it is all the same", "To build socialism, there must be socialist people and socialist ideology"; the inheritance and development of the Party's viewpoints from the Outline on Vietnamese culture in 1943 to Resolution of the Central Committee 5 (VIII term) on "Building and developing an advanced Vietnamese culture, imbued with national identity" and Resolution No. 33-NQ/TW of the Central Executive Committee of the Party (XI term) on building and developing Vietnamese culture and people to meet the requirements of sustainable national development. In particular, the birth of Resolution No. 17-NQ/TU It is also the way Thanh Hoa expresses its deep gratitude and determination to realize the concerns of the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on the issue of building and developing culture and people: "Culture is the soul of the nation, expressing the identity of the nation. If culture exists, the nation exists"...
The rolling history makes Thanh Hoa a “land rich in memories”, “a land of heroic epics”, a land that “holds and charms like a region with many memories of a legendary and great past”. And from these historical brilliances, we see the deep cultural source and the great contributions of generations of Thanh Hoa people: “If Le Loi had not raised an army to chase away the enemy/ The name of the country Nam would have disappeared from the earth/ If Thanh Hoa had not had Nguyen Hoang to open the land/ How could our Fatherland have reached Ca Mau” (“Thanh Hoa”, Tran Manh Hao). On the journey to become a new growth pole, Thanh Hoa constantly promotes cultural values and human strength, arouses the desire for development, creates the combined strength of the entire people to take advantage of opportunities, overcome challenges, and create a strong change in "quality" after having reserved enough "quantity": "The sacred river is the land of wild horses and goring buffaloes/ The Fatherland is still Thanh Hoa, what is there to fear?" ("Thanh Hoa", Tran Manh Hao).
Resolution No. 17-NQ/TU is the crystallization of the will, efforts, determination, and deep concern of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee in implementing and carrying out the task of building and developing Vietnamese culture and people in general, and Thanh Hoa culture and people in particular; the result of a process of careful nurturing and preparation through many generations of leaders and succession through the periods. In the process of leading the construction of Thanh Hoa homeland, the Provincial Party Committee regularly pays attention to building culture and people through the issuance of many directives, conclusions, plans, programs... However, in Resolution No. 17-NQ/TU, the issue was raised to a higher level, covering more comprehensively, demonstrating the comprehensive leadership role of the Party in building and developing culture and people of Thanh Hoa with many innovative contents, closely following the practical development requirements of the province, aiming to create a stronger change in the awareness and actions of Party committees, authorities, sectors, levels, cadres, Party members and people of all walks of life in the province on the task of building and developing culture and people to meet the requirements of sustainable development of the province. |
