According to the 2023-2024 school year schedule, preschool and primary school students in Ho Chi Minh City will have Tet holiday starting from February 5 (December 26 of the lunar calendar) to February 18 (January 9 of the lunar calendar).

Based on the above Lunar New Year holiday schedule, including previous weekends, students in Ho Chi Minh City will have a total of 15-16 days off (3-4 days more than last year).

According to the recent announcement on the Lunar New Year and National Day holidays in 2024 by the Hanoi People's Committee, civil servants, public employees and employees working at administrative agencies, public service agencies, political organizations, and socio-political organizations in Hanoi will have 7 days off for the Lunar New Year in 2024.

Specifically, the holiday starts from February 8 to February 14 (ie from December 29, year of the Cat to January 5, year of the Dragon).

The Department of Education and Training of Dong Nai province informs managers, teachers, staff, and students of preschools, primary schools, secondary schools, and high schools that they will be off for the 2024 Lunar New Year from February 5 to February 17.

Managers, teachers, staff and students of educational institutions will have a total of 13 days off for the 2024 Lunar New Year.

Officials and civil servants of the Department of Education and Training will have Tet holiday from February 8 to 14. Officials and civil servants of the Education and Training sector will have 7 days off, including 5 days off for Tet and 2 days off every week.

First semester holiday schedule for students nationwide

The Ministry of Education and Training issued the schedule framework for the 2023-2024 school year as follows:

The earliest school start date is 1 week before the opening day. For grade 1, the earliest school start date is 2 weeks before the opening day. The opening day is September 5, 2023.

Finish semester I before January 15, complete semester II education plan before May 25 and end the school year before May 31.

Consider recognition of completion of primary school program and consider recognition of secondary school graduation before June 30. Complete enrollment of first grade classes before July 31.

High school graduation exams and national exams according to regulations and instructions of the Ministry of Education and Training.

The local school year schedule must ensure the number of actual study weeks:

For preschool education, general education has 35 weeks of actual study (semester I has 18 weeks, semester II has 17 weeks).

With continuing education (implementing secondary and high school education programs).

For grades 9 and 12, there are 32 weeks of actual study (each semester has 16 weeks).

For grades 6, 7, 8, 10 and 11, there are 35 weeks of actual study (semester I has 18 weeks, semester II has 17 weeks).

The school year schedule must be suitable to the characteristics and practical conditions of the locality.

Holidays are implemented according to the provisions of the Labor Code and annual guidelines.

Teachers' annual leave is taken during the summer vacation, or can be arranged alternately at other times of the year to suit the specific characteristics and school year schedule of the locality.

The school year schedule needs to ensure consistency for all levels of education in residential areas, especially in general schools with many levels of education.
