On the afternoon of July 11th, the Vietnam Railway Corporation, in coordination with functional units of Da Lat City, Lam Dong Province, held a ceremony to announce that Da Lat Railway Station had been recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as a tourist destination under the name "Da Lat Railway Station".
Dalat Railway Station is considered the most beautiful railway station in Vietnam.
According to the Vietnam Railways Corporation, the number of visitors to Da Lat station in the first six months of 2024 was over 275,000; the number of visitors participating in the Da Lat - Trai Mat train tour was over 138,000. Total revenue from tourism activities was nearly 11.5 billion VND.
According to a decision by the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, the Vietnam Railway Corporation is responsible for fully complying with the provisions of the Tourism Law and related legal regulations in the process of managing and operating tourism businesses at the "Da Lat Railway Station" tourist destination.
According to Mr. Tran Anh Tuan, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Railways Corporation, being recognized as an official tourist destination has put Da Lat railway station on the national tourism map.
To unlock the tourism potential of Da Lat railway station, Vietnam Railways Corporation will hire a consulting firm to develop a master plan for infrastructure investment to serve tourists at Da Lat station.

Develop a proposal for charging entrance fees to the "Da Lat Railway Station" tourist attraction and a pricing scheme for services to be submitted to the competent authorities for approval. This is expected to be completed in September 2024, with the new entrance fee rates to be implemented from October 1, 2024.
Dalat Railway Station, located at 1 Quang Trung Street, Ward 10, Dalat City, is a popular tourist attraction in Lam Dong province, drawing a large number of domestic and international visitors daily.
Da Lat Station is the Lam Dong starting point of the 84 km long Thap Cham – Da Lat rack railway connecting Lam Dong with Ninh Thuan, and is one of only two rack railways built in the world (the other is in Switzerland).
Built between 1932 and 1938 at an altitude of 1,500 meters above sea level, Da Lat railway station is considered the most beautiful railway station in Vietnam.
The Da Lat – Trai Mat tourist train route serves visitors at night.
At the station, in addition to visiting the architecture of Da Lat station and the steam locomotive, the Vietnam Railways Corporation is operating the Da Lat – Trai Mat tourist railway line. The line is approximately 7 km long and serves tourists who want to admire the beautiful scenery and some famous landmarks of the city.
In April 2023, Stadler Group (Switzerland) expressed its desire to participate in the restoration project of the Thap Cham – Da Lat railway line. The reconstruction of this railway line requires new carriages with new racks and pinions, and Stadler is one of the market leaders in this field.
Also in this year, Bach Dang Hotel and Service Trading Joint Stock Company submitted to the Ministry of Transport a pre-feasibility study report for the project to restore the Thap Cham - Da Lat railway line under the public-private partnership (PPP) method with a total investment of 24,920 billion VND.
