Meeting with the Governor of South Morava, Mr. Jan Grolich, the Deputy Minister proposed to include Vietnamese in the local generaleducation program so that children of the Vietnamese community as well as those interested in Vietnam have the opportunity to access and study.

Noting this proposal, Governor Jan Grolich said that the Vietnamese community is united and well integrated, making positive contributions to the province, with an increasingly important role and position, and being recognized as the 14th ethnic minority in the Czech Republic. He also assessed that Vietnamese culture is becoming increasingly popular in the Czech Republic, through the organization of Vietnamese cultural and culinary festivals; more and more Czech tourists are visiting Vietnam.

The two sides acknowledged that the potential for economic cooperation is still very large, and that the two economies can complement each other, including areas where Brno has strengths such as IT, high technology, and cyber security; and suggested that Morava province consider implementing cooperation with the National Innovation Center of Vietnam in the coming time.

The two sides emphasized that 2025 is an important milestone marking the 75th anniversary of Vietnam-Czech diplomatic relations. On this occasion, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang hoped to soon establish cooperative and friendly relations between the two cities of Da Nang and Brno on the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the two sides since 2020, as well as hoped that Governor Jan Grolich would soon visit Vietnam in 2024.

On the afternoon of July 25, at the Vietnamese Community Shopping Center in Brno City, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang chaired the Ceremony to Honor the Vietnamese Language and inaugurate the Vietnamese Bookshelf serving the Vietnamese community.

In the solemn atmosphere of the ceremony, all delegates observed a minute of silence to commemorate General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Brno and South Moravia region Truong Cong Su said this is the area with the second largest number of Vietnamese people in the Czech Republic, with 80% of the community doing business, mainly in two large Vietnamese commercial centers.

Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang expressed her excitement and pride when the Vietnamese community in Brno and South Morava developed in all aspects and had a strong legal status in the local community.

The Deputy Minister emphasized the importance of preserving the Vietnamese language and Vietnamese soul, thereby connecting the community with the homeland.

Representing local volunteer teachers teaching Vietnamese, Ms. Tran Thi Thu Thuy sincerely thanks the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese for creating the opportunity for her to participate in the 2023 Vietnamese Language Teaching Training Course, leaving many deep impressions and motivating her to continue her passion for preserving the Vietnamese language in the Czech Republic.

She expressed her wish to receive support from competent authorities and benefactors to open a Vietnamese language class locally with teachers who share the same passion, in the context that there is only one Vietnamese language center in Brno City and South Morava.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang presented a Commemorative Medal of Gratitude to representatives of the Vietnamese Language Center in Brno and South Morava; together with Vietnamese Ambassador to the Czech Republic - Duong Hoai Nam and leaders of Associations inaugurated the Vietnamese Bookcase to serve the local community; presented gifts to teachers and students who have made outstanding achievements in teaching and learning Vietnamese in the locality.

Previously, on July 24, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang and the delegation attended the Ceremony to Honor the Vietnamese Language and Open the Vietnamese Bookshelf for the Community held at Sapa Trade Center, Prague, Czech Republic.
