In the heroic atmosphere of the historic April days, Ninh Thuan Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Duc Thanh read a speech expressing gratitude, remembrance and infinite gratitude for the immense contributions of the great President Ho Chi Minh - the founder and trainer of our Party, the beloved leader of the nation; remembering generations of loyal communist soldiers, predecessors and outstanding leaders of the Party; remembering heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives and devoted themselves to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation, adding more color to the glorious red flag of the Party, helping the country blossom with independence and bear fruit of freedom.
During the war against France and the US, Ninh Thuan was an important revolutionary base. Bac Ai district was the first locality to be liberated in the South (August 30, 1960), which turned the revolutionary situation from a struggle to preserve forces to an offensive position, disintegrating a series of puppet government apparatuses in villages and communes, contributing to the failure of the war strategies of the US imperialists in South Vietnam.
With outstanding achievements, the army and people of Ninh Thuan were honored to be awarded the title "Hero of the People's Armed Forces" by the Party and State.
Since then, the Party Committee, government and people of Ninh Thuan province have continued to promote the glorious revolutionary tradition, demonstrating high political determination, solidarity and creativity in implementing breakthrough solutions, creating an increasingly solid socio-economic development position.
After 50 years of liberation (April 16, 1975 - April 16, 2025), especially after 33 years of re-establishment of the province (April 1, 1992 - April 1, 2025), Ninh Thuan has made great strides on the path of innovation and development. If in 1992 Ninh Thuan was a province with a low socio-economic starting point (budget revenue of only over 30 billion VND), up to now, the province's economy has changed dramatically, remarkably, with continuous high growth for many years, budget revenue in 2024 reaching nearly 5,000 billion VND.
In recent years, the province's GRDP growth rate has always been among the top in the country; GRDP growth rate in 2024 will reach 8.74%, ranking 4th out of 14 provinces in the central coastal region and 16th out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide.
From a poor province, Ninh Thuan has risen to become a middle-income province; GRDP per capita in 2024 reached 98.2 million VND/person, approaching the national average; people's quality of life has been significantly improved.
Investment in socio-economic infrastructure has developed remarkably with modern transportation and seaport systems; construction and completion of intra-provincial and inter-regional transportation routes. Irrigation systems and dams have been invested in and built synchronously, ensuring adequate water supply for daily life, production and business... the appearance of urban and rural areas has changed significantly.
During the 2020 - 2025 term, Ninh Thuan will focus on developing 5 key sectors and fields, namely energy, tourism, processing and manufacturing industry, high-tech agriculture, construction, real estate business and urban economy. Identifying 2 groups of driving sectors: marine economy and urban economy, gradually building Ninh Thuan into one of the strong localities in the sea. By the end of 2024, the province's production value will reach more than 900 million VND/ha, the proportion of marine economy contribution to GRDP will reach 42.2%.
Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the Party and State, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung commended and congratulated many achievements in socio-economic development of Ninh Thuan province after 50 years of national reunification, worthy of the sacrifices of previous generations.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung emphasized: "The year 2025 is of special importance, a year of acceleration, breakthrough, and reaching the finish line to strive to achieve the highest results of the goals and targets of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, the year of holding Party Congresses at all levels, towards the 14th National Party Congress. Ninh Thuan province is requested to focus on directing the preparation and successful organization of Party Congresses at all levels for the 2025-2030 term, towards the 14th National Party Congress. Promote new driving forces to achieve the goal of a decade of double-digit economic growth".
On this occasion, the President awarded the First Class Labor Medal to Comrade Nguyen Duc Thanh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Ninh Thuan Provincial Party Committee and the Second Class Labor Medal to Comrade Tran Minh Luc, Vice Chairman of the Ninh Thuan Provincial People's Council for his outstanding achievements in work, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland.
