Lotus Festival in Dong Thap is successful from interesting experiences

After 4 days, on the evening of May 19, the 2nd Dong Thap Lotus Festival 2024 officially closed. The festival left many impressions in the hearts of visitors with many unique and interesting experiences, imbued with the culture of the land of pink lotus Dong Thap.

According to Nhan Dan Newspaper reporters, on the first day of the festival's opening, the weather was not good, it was raining so few tourists came to visit and shop.

However, in the following days, the Dong Thap Lotus Festival attracted a large number of tourists to visit and shop, especially in the evening. The event showed once again that experiential activities that bring unique characteristics of the culture of the Mekong Delta always attract a large number of tourists.

This year's Lotus Festival not only brings cultural experiences about lotus but also opens up many opportunities for connection and exchange between domestic and foreign businesses and people doing business with lotus.

At the event, many large and small activities took place. Many activities left a lasting impression on visitors from near and far, as well as the people of Dong Thap.

“I am very excited about this lovely little gift. I didn't think I would receive a gift like this when participating in a festival.

Although the gift is not big, it still leaves me with a very happy memory when coming to the festival. I will definitely come back to participate in the next festivals of Dong Thap", Ms. Dao Mai Anh, a tourist from Vinh Long province shared when the festival organizers gave her a bag of Dong Thap pink lotus seeds.

Previously, within the framework of the Dong Thap Lotus Festival, with the desire to spread the value of lotus and love for lotus, the flower chosen by Dong Thap as a typical image and determined to build the brand "Dong Thap - Land of pink lotus", the Organizing Committee presented about 4,000 bags of Dong Thap pink lotus seeds.

These lotus seed bags were kindly given by the Organizing Committee to visitors from near and far when they came to visit and experience the festival. Each lotus seed bag contains 5 lotus seeds of the Dong Thap pink lotus variety, with a QR Code guiding the process of planting and caring for the lotus seeds.

The festival was also successful when, on the occasion of the 134th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday and the 55th anniversary of implementing Uncle Ho's Testament, within the framework of the 2nd Dong Thap Lotus Festival in 2024, the Dong Thap Provincial Women's Union coordinated with relevant units to organize for the first time for 5,500 Dong Thap women to participate in the parade with "Ao Dai - Radiant Lotus".

The event became even more bustling and joyful when thousands of women from districts, cities, departments, and agencies in Dong Thap province arrived very early. Some were farmers, teachers, and market vendors… who also “prepared” for themselves ao dai and conical hats with lotus and lotus leaf motifs…

Throughout the journey, everyone was cheerful and expressed their excitement at participating in the province’s big event for the first time. During the journey, many women stopped to take photos and record short clips to commemorate each moment in their flowing ao dai.

“Women of all walks of life in Dong Thap province have made many important contributions in all fields such as politics, economy, culture, and society of the province, contributing significantly to the overall development of Dong Thap and the whole country.

And each woman present in today's parade will be a fresh lotus, wearing the beautiful traditional values of the Vietnamese people and bringing the image of the lotus color, the beauty of the Pink Lotus Land, to add pink to the homeland, the country where she lives", said President of the Women's Union of Dong Thap province Nguyen Thi Nhanh.

On the occasion of this festival, many competitions and contests took place, specifically: 2024 News and Art Photo Contest; Lotus Reading Contest; Lotus Mural Painting Contest; Lotus Gift Design Contest also achieved many successes with the participation of a large number of people, students, and officials, civil servants and employees and achieved high quality.

Vice Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee Tran Tri Quang said that the 2nd Dong Thap Lotus Festival in 2024 is an important event, helping Dong Thap province promote its culture and tourism.

This is also an opportunity for the locality to more fully recognize the values of lotus in the cultural and economic life of Dong Thap people. Thereby, helping the province better orient the development of the lotus industry value chain in the context of international integration.

The event has the most activities ever in the festivals in Dong Thap province with 28 activities.

Highlights include: Lotus seminars; international lotus exhibition space; lotus river; culinary contest of dishes made from lotus; lotus culinary street; lotus Carnival festival and art program "Youth Melody of Pink Lotus Land"...

The festival's large and small scenes are special spaces about lotus, along with attractive activities such as: Making the largest lotus map in Vietnam; lotus ao dai parade, with the participation of 5,500 Dong Thap women.

This Dong Thap Lotus Festival attracted more than 200,000 visitors to visit and shop; revenue from activities as of the afternoon of May 19 is estimated at more than 99 billion VND.
