On February 2, the People's Committee of Quang Ngai City held a ceremony to announce the list of national intangible cultural heritage of the traditional festival "Boat racing festival in Tinh Long commune, Quang Ngai city".
Quang Ngai City leaders received the Certificate of National Intangible Cultural Heritage recognition for the Tinh Long Commune Boat Racing Festival.
Previously, the traditional boat racing festival of Tinh Long commune was announced by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a national intangible cultural heritage for Quang Ngai province.
The traditional boat racing festival of Tinh Long commune was born long ago, associated with the process of land reclamation and settlement of Vietnamese people from the end of the 16th century.
The boat racing festival of Tinh Long commune is held every two years, in early spring, attracting a large number of people to participate, creating a vibrant festival atmosphere during the Lunar New Year of the people of Tinh Long commune in particular and Quang Ngai in general.
This unique cultural beauty, closely associated with the lives of residents living in the lower reaches of the Tra Khuc River, is a traditional cultural and religious activity of agricultural residents, praying for favorable weather, good crops, and peace for the people; at the same time, it connects the spirit of solidarity and love among the people, arouses the spirit of physical exercise, health training, and striving to build a rich and beautiful homeland.
