Dong Dinh Communal House Festival and Tay Ethnic Culture and Sports Festival in Tien Yen District 2025

On February 9, at the Tay ethnic cultural house, Dong Dinh village, Phong Du commune, Tien Yen district, the opening ceremony of Dong Dinh communal house festival and Tay ethnic cultural and sports festival of Tien Yen district in 2025 was held.

Tien Yen district leaders presented flowers to welcome the Festival.
Delegates and people performed the Long Tong ceremony to sow seeds at the beginning of the new year.

The ceremony includes the God worshiping ceremony; the procession and incense offering at Dong Dinh communal house; the reenactment of the "Long Tong" ceremony and the excerpt of "Lau Then" - one of the typical cultural features of the Tay ethnic group in Dong Dinh village, Phong Du commune. The festival includes many unique cultural, artistic and sports activities such as: Stick pushing competition, tug of war, crossbow shooting, men's and women's volleyball competition, raft racing on the river and Tay ethnic costume demonstration; culinary competition (gio cake wrapping competition, Tay culinary display competition).

Then singing and Tinh lute performance opened the festival.
Teams compete in rafting on Dong Dinh River.

In addition, visitors to the Festival can also experience folk games and shop for local agricultural products through the stalls on sale here. Visit the space displaying artifacts bearing the cultural identity of the Tay ethnic group and the exhibition of paintings and art photos at the Tay ethnic cultural house in Dong Dinh village, Phong Du commune, Tien Yen district.

Dong Dinh Communal House Festival - Tay Ethnic Culture and Sports Festival in Tien Yen District is held annually after the Lunar New Year, to help local people start production and build a joyful and exciting new year. The festival also aims to promote and propagate so that people and tourists can understand more deeply about Tay ethnic culture in Tien Yen District and strengthen solidarity among ethnic communities.
