Solemn welcoming ceremony for Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on official visit to Qatar

In a warm and intimate atmosphere at Amiri Diwan Palace, Prime Minister of the State of Qatar Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jasim Al-Thani invited Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to step into the position of honor, before the national flags of the two countries, the national anthems of the two countries were played.

The Prime Minister of the State of Qatar presided over the welcoming ceremony for Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on an official visit to the State of Qatar.

Immediately afterwards, the Prime Minister of the State of Qatar invited Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to review the honor guard and introduce the members of the high-ranking delegations of the two countries and enter the meeting room.

This is the first official visit of a Vietnamese Prime Minister to Qatar in 15 years, taking place in the context of the relationship between the two countries being on a good development path with many substantive results.

The Prime Minister of the State of Qatar and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh enter the meeting room.

Currently, Qatar is a major potential economic and investment partner for Vietnam. Bilateral trade turnover in 2023 will reach 497.2 million USD (an increase of 32% compared to 2022).

Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) has been researching and promoting investment projects, especially in the real estate and industrial sectors in Vietnam. Other cooperation areas such as education and labor have also seen many improvements recently.

This is the first official visit of a Vietnamese Prime Minister to Qatar in 15 years.

With the foundation of a good relationship over the past 3 decades, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's official visit to the State of Qatar this time will contribute to strengthening political trust between the two countries; creating momentum, opening a new phase of cooperation in the Vietnam-Qatar relationship; especially in attracting investment from Qatar to Vietnam and creating a breakthrough for Vietnamese goods and services to access the Qatari market and the region.

This time, Vietnam and Qatar signed 5 cooperation documents including:

Protocol between the Government of the State of Qatar and the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam amending the Agreement between the Government of the State of Qatar and the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on air transport signed on March 8, 2009.

Memorandum of Understanding in the field of sports between the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Government of the State of Qatar.

Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Legal Field between the Ministry of Justice of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Ministry of Justice of the State of Qatar.

Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between the Diplomatic Academy (Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam) and the Diplomatic Academy (Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar).

Memorandum of Understanding between State Capital Investment Corporation (SCIC) and Qatar Investment Authority on investment cooperation.
