The report was developed by Lazada to provide further information on the company’s progress and commitment to leveraging e-commerce as a source of sustainable development based on the four core pillars in the ESG framework announced last year, including: Empowering and supporting communities; Fostering a talented digital workforce for the future; Managing environmental responsibility and Effective platform governance.
Lazada is now stepping up its sustainable development activities.
Notably, since Lazada Group introduced a baseline carbon inventory to identify the major sources of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across its business operations in 2022, the business has reduced its overall GHG emissions by 10% compared to the previous reporting period.
James Dong, CEO of Lazada Group, said: "For over a decade, Lazada has been driving Southeast Asia's progress through commerce and technology. With our second ESG Report, I am proud to share the progress that Lazada Group has made and believe that we can achieve more milestones together. As we look to the next phase of growth, we recognize that sustainability will continue to be at the heart of everything we do."
In addition, Lazada also joined the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC 2022) to promote initiatives and support the digital transformation of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), where digitalization plays a key role in improving operational agility and long-term growth of businesses across Southeast Asia.
Lazada Vietnam has been honored with two prestigious Corporate Social Responsibility awards, in recognition of its efforts to support and uplift the local community. In addition, Lazada Logistics’ Transport Access Point (TAP) program in Indonesia has reduced more than 20,000 trips and approximately 7 million equivalent journey kilometers by reducing road transport operations. This is the result of collaborating with third-party partners to utilize Lazada’s trucks to deliver parcels at delivery points under suitable conditions, thereby reducing the need for separate trucks.
