Director of Vinh City Medical Center (Nghe An) Hoang The Tung informed that when receiving feedback from residents of Golden City 3 apartment building (Hamlet 19, Nghi Phu commune, Vinh city) about the content that there were dozens of cases living here with signs of stomachache, diarrhea, vomiting... the unit directly sent staff to check and take samples of food and drink related items for verification.
"Currently, water samples have been taken and the authorities have stepped in to verify. The list of people with the symptoms as mentioned is currently more than 40 people. Initial investigation shows that the incident is likely related to the water source," said Mr. Tung.
Ms. H., an apartment owner living on the 5th floor of this apartment building, informed that for the past two days, her son (5 years old) and her husband have had stomachaches, vomiting, and the baby has a slight fever. Seeing that many households have had the same problem, she is quite worried. Currently, the baby and her husband's health are stable after taking antibiotics.
"For the past 4 days, the shared water in the apartment building has had a smell and changed color slightly. Today, it has started to get better. Even though my family boils everything and eats well-cooked food... we still suffer like many other families. I hope that the authorities will soon investigate the cause to ensure health," said Ms. H.
Director of Nghe An Food Safety and Hygiene Department Pham Ngoc Quy informed that after receiving information about the incident, he initially determined that it was likely related to the shared water source in the apartment building.
Households using bottled water did not show any symptoms similar to those using shared water in the apartment building. The unit is currently sending specialized staff to coordinate and monitor the situation.
