Despite the authorities and relevant agencies establishing 6 teams with 40 participants to campaign, currently only 1 student is attending the main campus of Quang Phuc No. 1 Primary School in Quang Binh .

On December 11th, Mr. Phan Tien Lam, Principal of Quang Phuc No. 1 Primary School (Quang Phuc Ward, Ba Don Town, Quang Binh Province), stated that after 8 days of teaching and learning following the Lunar New Year holiday of 2025, only one 2nd-grade student from the Tan My branch school had returned to the main school to continue their studies.

According to the People's Committee of Quang Phuc Ward, the local authorities have established 6 teams, comprising over 40 people including police, border guards, women's affairs officials, veterans, youth union members, neighborhood committee members, and homeroom teachers, to go to each house to disseminate information, explain to parents, and encourage them to send their children to school according to the schedule.

For elderly or sick parents, the local authorities are ready to arrange transportation to pick up and drop off students…

However, out of the 154 students who did not return to the main school after the Lunar New Year holiday, only one student has been persuaded to return by the working groups.

Mr. Dinh Thieu Son, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Don Town, said that a document has been sent to the locality requesting a commitment to maintain the current state of Tan My branch school (which is dilapidated and must be closed); when funding is secured, an investor is interested, or social mobilization is possible, construction of a new school will begin immediately.

As Thanh Nien newspaper previously reported, since the Lunar New Year, more than 150 students at Quang Phuc No. 1 Primary School have not returned to class. These are students from the Tan My branch of Quang Phuc No. 1 Primary School.

The children were brought to school by their parents, but they could only stand outside in the yard because this branch school was closed (to transfer all students to the main school located about 2 km away). The parents were aware of the closure of this branch school, but they opposed the decision.

According to the education sector and local authorities, the reason for temporarily closing the Tan My branch school in January 2025 is due to the school's serious deterioration, which does not ensure safety for teaching and learning.
