Laos awards first Freedom Medal to Vietnamese Ambassador

Laos has awarded the Third Class Freedom Medal to Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Ba Hung for his outstanding contributions to preserving, nurturing and developing the great friendship between the two countries.

On the morning of July 29 in the capital Vientiane, authorized by the Prime Minister of Laos, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Laos Saleumxay Kommasith awarded the Third Class Order of Freedom (Itxala) to Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Ba Hung, for his outstanding contributions to preserving, nurturing and developing the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam, Vietnam and Laos during nearly 8 years as Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos.

Deputy Prime Minister Saleumxay Kommasith acknowledged the outstanding and positive contributions of Ambassador Nguyen Ba Hung during his time as Ambassador in Laos; affirmed that Ambassador Nguyen Ba Hung had successfully fulfilled his role as a bridge to help connect and develop the special relationship between Laos and Vietnam, in terms of politics-diplomacy, economics-trade, culture, tourism... and especially helped promote a number of large and prestigious Vietnamese enterprises to invest in Laos, making positive contributions to the socio-economic development of Laos.

Ambassador Nguyen Ba Hung expressed his deep emotion, honor and pride when receiving the Freedom Medal awarded by the Lao State; affirming that this is not only a recognition of the Ambassador's contributions, but also a special sentiment of the Lao Party, State and people for the Party, State and people of Vietnam; and an appreciation by the Lao Party and State for the achievements, contributions and fostering of the special Vietnam-Laos relationship of the Embassy and agencies affiliated to the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos.

Ambassador Nguyen Ba Hung said that during his time as Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos, he witnessed and participated in many important political events between the two countries. Living and working in an atmosphere of special friendship between the two countries has fostered in the Ambassador a truly special and affectionate affection for the country and people of Laos. The Ambassador always considers Laos as his homeland, his second home.

This noble Medal will be a great source of encouragement and motivation for the Ambassador and his colleagues to continue to make every effort, constantly promote the fine tradition, together consolidate and nurture the Vietnam-Laos relationship to develop more and more strongly, effectively and practically, bringing practical benefits to the two countries and peoples; regardless of any working position, the Ambassador will continue to devote himself to the Vietnam-Laos friendship, so that the special Vietnam-Laos relationship will forever develop and deepen in all areas.

The Third Class Freedom Medal is a noble medal of the Lao State awarded to Lao citizens with outstanding achievements in the cause of protecting, building and developing Laos. Ambassador Nguyen Ba Hung is the first foreign Ambassador to Laos to be awarded the Third Class Freedom Medal by the Lao State./.
