The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on September 14 that leader Kim Jong-un and Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu held talks on September 13 in Pyongyang.

During the meeting, Kim and Shoigu, a former Russian defense minister, had an in-depth exchange of views on a wide range of issues to deepen the strategic dialogue between the two countries and enhance cooperation to protect common security interests. The two sides also discussed the regional and international situation and reached consensus on the issues mentioned.
Mr. Kim stressed that bilateral relations in the political, economic and cultural fields are developing dynamically following his talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in June.

The leader announced that he will continue to expand cooperation with Russia in the spirit of the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement that the two countries' leaders signed in June, including common defense content.

At the end of the talks, the North Korean leader sent his regards to President Putin and the Russian people, wishing them victory, prosperity, happiness and peace, according to RT.
President Putin made a state visit to North Korea in June, the first by a Russian leader since 2000. In July, a Russian military delegation led by Deputy Defense Minister Aleksey Krivoruchko also visited North Korea and was received by Kim.
