Dong Thap province leaders wish Bunpimay New Year to Champasak province leaders

DTO - On the occasion of the upcoming traditional New Year Bunpimay 2025, on the morning of April 8, a delegation of Dong Thap province, led by Mr. Huynh Minh Tuan - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, visited and wished a happy New Year to the leaders of Champasak province, Lao People's Democratic Republic.

The delegation also included Mr. Nguyen Ton Hoang - former Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, former Chairman of the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association of Dong Thap province; Mr. Dinh Van Dung - Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province; Mr. Kieu The Lam - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council and a number of departments, branches, sectors of the province, districts and cities.

Before starting the visit and New Year greetings to the leaders of Champasak province, on behalf of the Party Committee, Government and People of Dong Thap province, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Huynh Minh Tuan expressed his deepest condolences to the people and country of Laos on the passing of General Khamtay Siphandone - former Chairman of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, former President, former Prime Minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.

In a warm and friendly atmosphere, leaders of Dong Thap and Champasak provinces shared outstanding results in socio-economic development in 2024 and development orientations in the coming time.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Huynh Minh Tuan highly appreciated the results achieved in the cooperative relationship between the two provinces over the past time.

In order to deepen the relationship between Vietnam and Laos in general, and between Dong Thap and Champasak provinces in particular, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Huynh Minh Tuan hopes that in 2025, the two provinces will continue to coordinate more closely, regularly inform and support to remove existing difficulties; promote the development of border trade and tourism. On the side of Dong Thap province, it will study support policies for Lao students studying in the province, especially in supporting the training of medical human resources for Champasak province; continue to support and train agricultural techniques for provincial officials when needed; regularly organize delegations and create conditions for departments, branches and localities of Dong Thap province to exchange expertise, profession and promote people-to-people diplomacy.

On the occasion of the upcoming traditional Bunpimay New Year, on behalf of the Government and People of Dong Thap province, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Huynh Minh Tuan wished the Party Committee, Government and people of Champasak province a peaceful and happy New Year and to reap even greater achievements in building and developing the country; at the same time, wishing the friendship, special solidarity and cooperation between Dong Thap and Champasak provinces to become increasingly deeper, more practical and effective.

Mr. Saithong Xayyavong thanked the leaders of Dong Thap province for their affection, attention and best wishes for Champasak province; at the same time, he expressed his hope that the Government and People of the two provinces will have many cooperative activities, together promoting the close friendship and solidarity, for the common development of the two provinces and the common interests of Vietnam and Laos.

Mr. Saithong Xayyavong awarded the Second Class Labor Medal and the Friendship Medal of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to Dong Thap province and Mr. Nguyen Ton Hoang.

To recognize the contributions of Dong Thap province in the past time, on this occasion, Dong Thap province received the Second Class Labor Medal, Mr. Nguyen Ton Hoang - former Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Former Chairman of the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association of Dong Thap province received the Friendship Medal of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.
