City leaders inspect the progress of key traffic projects

Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen, Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee (right cover) inspected the actual project of the Western Beltway of the city.

The Western Ring Road Project of Can Tho City has a route length of more than 19.26km, with a total investment of more than VND 3,837 billion; implementation period 2021-2026. The project has 7 construction packages, currently implementing 4 packages (package 16, package 17, package 19 and package 20); the remaining packages have had the results of appraisal of construction drawing design documents. There are about 1,247 cases of people affected by the project; it is expected to resettle about 464 cases.

According to the Department of Construction - the investor, up to now, the inventory of houses, objects, architecture, and crops has been completed. Compensation and support costs have been approved for 673 cases; compensation payments have been made to 655 cases; the handover of the site to the construction unit has reached about 50%. Currently, the project is facing difficulties in site clearance; construction material prices have increased; the investor is adjusting the investment policy, total investment of the project, etc.

The project to upgrade and expand National Highway 91 (section from Km0-Km7), Can Tho City, has a total route length of about 7.04km (including Binh Thuy Bridge). The total investment of the project is more than 7,237 billion VND from the central budget and local budget. The project implementation period is from 2023-2027. The total affected land area is about 27.25ha, with 983 households and 83 organizations affected; the resettlement demand is 300 plots.

According to the Can Tho City Construction Investment Project Management Board - the investor, the Board has completed the construction survey, established the construction design to be implemented after the basic design. Regarding compensation, support and resettlement, the counting and preparation of compensation records have reached 100% of cases; land recovery notices have been issued for 423 cases; decisions have been made to approve compensation and support plans for 101 cases; compensation has been paid to 77 cases... The project investor is coordinating with related units to focus on implementation, ensuring the progress of compensation, support, resettlement and procedures to start the project soon.

Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen, Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee, gave a speech at the meeting.

Through the actual inspection of the projects, Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen emphasized: These are two key traffic projects of the city, creating a driving force to promote socio-economic development, creating positive and strong changes for Can Tho City. Therefore, the investor needs to develop a detailed plan, with a roadmap and assign specific tasks, ensuring project progress. For the Western Ring Road project of Can Tho City, the investor coordinates with the People's Committees of related districts and towns to focus on site clearance for ongoing bid packages to hand over to the construction unit. The Department of Construction develops a specific plan to adjust the project investment policy and submit it to the Party Committee of the City People's Committee and the City People's Council for consideration.

For the project to upgrade and expand National Highway 91 (section from Km0-Km7), the City Land Fund Development Center coordinates with the People's Committees of Ninh Kieu and Binh Thuy districts to speed up compensation, support and resettlement for affected cases according to the committed schedule. Relevant departments and branches coordinate and support investors to carry out procedures and promptly start construction of the project...
