Leaders of Laos and Cambodia congratulate new General Secretary To Lam

In the telegram, General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, on behalf of the Central Executive Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and himself, congratulated President To Lam on being elected General Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam at the 13th Central Executive Committee Conference of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Mr. Sisoulith assessed that the election of President To Lam to this important position demonstrates the trust and appreciation of the Party, State and people of Vietnam for his capacity, rich experience and outstanding achievements in leadership and direction in recent times.

"I firmly believe that, under the correct, talented and wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam headed by you, the Vietnamese people will continue to gain many new and greater achievements in the cause of innovation, successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and complete the goal of building Vietnam into a modern industrialized country with a rich people, a strong country, democracy, equality, civilization and a developed country with a socialist orientation," affirmed the General Secretary and President of Laos.

Mr. Sisoulith also emphasized that he will stand side by side with General Secretary and President To Lam and leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam to continue to consolidate and nurture the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam, and between Vietnam and Laos, to develop more deeply and effectively in all fields, bringing practical benefits to the people of our two countries, as well as contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

On the same day, President of the Cambodian People's Party Hun Sen also sent a congratulatory message to President To Lam on his election as General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Mr. Hun Sen believes that under the leadership of General Secretary and President To Lam, the Communist Party of Vietnam will continue to successfully achieve its goals, ensuring political stability, socio-economic development, and maintaining peace, stability and prosperity in Vietnam as well as in the region.

The traditional friendship, solidarity and close cooperation between the two Parties is increasingly deepening, for the benefit of the two peoples and the two nations.

Previously, on the morning of August 3, in Hanoi, the 13th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam met to introduce personnel and elect the General Secretary of the 13th Central Committee of the Party.

At the conference, based on the Party's regulations and on the Politburo's personnel introduction orientation, the Central Committee promoted a sense of responsibility, focused on intelligence, discussed democratically, respected and reached a very high consensus with 100% of the votes to elect Mr. To Lam, Politburo member and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, to hold the position of General Secretary of the 13th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
