Delivering a speech at the ceremony to celebrate the anniversary of the General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized that the country has entered a new era, posing increasingly high tasks for Hanoi. "What must Hanoi do to become a socialist capital" as President Ho Chi Minh wished; what must it do to be worthy of the capital in the new era of development of the country.
Mr. Nguyen Thu, 92 years old, a veteran of Hai Ba Trung district, former officer of Regiment 102 - Capital Regiment, Division 308 - Vanguard Army Division spoke at the ceremony. After 9 years of hardship, deprivation and sacrifice, our army and people achieved the great Dien Bien Phu victory "famous in five continents, shaking the world", forcing the French colonialists to sign the Geneva Agreement on ceasefire in Vietnam.
