Russia has sent two more Tesla Cybertrucks to the war zone in the conflict in Ukraine, Ramzan Kadyrov, the head of the Chechen Republic, announced on September 20. He also posted a video showing the two electric vehicles.
Chechnya leader releases video of Tesla's "monster" car fighting against Ukraine (Video: RT).
The video emerged just a day after Mr Kadyrov said that Tesla chief executive Elon Musk had remotely disabled a Cybertruck that the American billionaire had “gifted to Mr Kadyrov”.
Mr. Musk previously denied that he had given the car to the leader of Chechnya in August and has not commented on the information that he had disabled the Cybertruck.
The video, released on September 20, shows two Cybertrucks with machine guns mounted on them, driven by soldiers. The vehicles are driven along a dirt road through a dense forest while accompanied by two all-terrain vehicles. The vehicles then stop on a small hill and open fire on a drone.
“Western equipment is working very well against Ukraine. Mobility and convenience are very popular,” he said, adding that “there could not be a better advertisement for the Cybertruck. We certainly know how to use them.”
The Tesla Cybertruck is a stylized electric vehicle with a relatively rugged appearance, although it was never designed for military use. The vehicle is available on the market with a starting price of more than $200,000.
Mr Kadyrov said the two new Cybertrucks sent to Ukraine were not affected by Mr Musk disabling the car the Chechen leader “was given”.
Mr Kadyrov did not specify how he came into possession of the two Cybertrucks that were sent to Ukraine.
Chechnya's leader praised the Cybertruck, which was sent to the front lines of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, calling it a "monster" supercar. According to him, the vehicle "demonstrated good maneuverability and protection for soldiers" and "performed excellently" on the battlefield.
