Zèng weaving village in A Lưới

Zèng weaving is a unique handicraft of the Ta Oi, Pa Co, and Van Kieu ethnic minorities in the mountainous A Luoi district of Thua Thien Hue province, and has become a national intangible cultural heritage.

Join author Truc Nguyen Van as she explores the traditional weaving craft of the Ta Oi ethnic group, showcasing their incredibly beautiful and delicate woven products, through the photo series "Zèng Weaving in A Luoi". This series was also submitted by the author to the "Happy Vietnam" photo and video contest, organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications .

Zèng weaving is a long-standing traditional craft of the Ta Oi ethnic group in the mountainous district of A Luoi. Products made from Zèng fabric are indispensable offerings or clothing in community life or important festivals of the people in the A Luoi highlands.

Each Zèng textile product has value in many aspects, serving both as a practical item to meet daily needs and as a work of art, reflecting the unique characteristics of the Ta Oi ethnic group's cultural heritage.

For hundreds of years, the Zèng weaving craft has been preserved and passed down by the local people; they find their own materials to weave Zèng fabrics with diverse colors and unique patterns.

To create a beautiful Zèng fabric, in addition to preparing the materials, including thread, beads, and bells, the skillful hands of the Ta Oi women, the gentle and graceful movements on the loom, and the meticulousness in beading create unique patterns.

Zèng weaving is both a cultural and economic activity for the local people today. The Zèng fabrics of the Ta Oi people have become products with high economic value, helping to improve the lives of the people today.

The recognition of the Zèng weaving craft in A Lưới as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage will create more jobs for people during their leisure time; at the same time, it can be exploited as a unique tourism product through tours and routes for studying and learning about the culture and history of the craft village... contributing to poverty reduction for ethnic minorities in A Lưới.
