The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism donated 400 books to students in disadvantaged areas during the launching ceremony in response to Vietnam's Book and Reading Culture Day.
This is the 10th year that Quang Binh province has organized Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day. Mr. Mai Xuan Thanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Binh province, believes that this is an opportunity to honor the value of books, affirm the role and importance of books in social life, in developing knowledge, inspiring creativity and spreading reading culture in the community.
"This is also an opportunity for everyone to reflect on their own reading habits, those of their families and society, and thereby spread the spirit of love for books and a lifelong learning attitude – an important factor in developing high-quality human resources in the current digital transformation era," said the Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Binh province.

With many practical and meaningful activities such as seminars, exchanges, dialogues, exhibitions, storytelling competitions based on books; building grassroots libraries; providing e-books; organizing mobile library vehicles in localities and schools, Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day is gradually building a habit and love of reading among students and people from all walks of life.
In addition, to encourage reading, the agencies and departments of Quang Binh province have coordinated to organize many meaningful activities and competitions.
The third "Reading Culture Ambassador" competition, organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Binh province, is considered one of the practical cultural and educational events aimed at spreading and inspiring a passion for reading, promoting the reading movement among young people, and contributing to the development of reading culture in schools.

Understanding the importance of reading, for many years, under the close guidance of the school's administration, Hai Dinh Primary School (Dong Hoi City, Quang Binh Province) has regularly organized a Reading Festival.
According to Ms. Luong Thi Hoa Ly, Principal of Hai Dinh Primary School, the festival aims to create a beneficial playground for students. It is also an opportunity to honor books and develop a reading culture among all students in the school in particular, and students nationwide in general. Through various forms of expression such as book introductions, storytelling based on books, reading with friends, and theatrical performances, the dedication of teachers and students in creating unique and impressive entries is evident.

Aiming to spread a reading culture among students, Dong Phu Primary School (Dong Hoi City, Quang Binh Province) organized meaningful and practical activities such as: decorating and displaying books in classroom libraries and stairwell libraries; arranging books artistically - presenting book models with the theme: "Commemorating 50 years of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and National Reunification"; a competition to promote and introduce books in English; and launching the movement "Contribute a small book, read a thousand good books".

According to Ms. Tran Thi Phuong Mai, Deputy Principal of Dong Phu Primary School, these activities aim to inspire students to form and maintain a reading habit, and to train them to choose books and newspapers with good content and high educational value that are suitable for each child's psychology.
It is known that the reading movement in Dong Phu Primary School is regularly maintained through organizing reading sessions in the library; writing book reviews and drawing pictures based on book covers; organizing the "My Favorite Book Page" contest and the "Introducing Books in English" contest.

At Ngu Thuy No. 1 Primary and Secondary School (Le Thuy district, Quang Binh province), the Quang Binh Provincial Border Guard coordinated with the school to organize many activities leading up to Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day 2025, linked with the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the complete liberation of Southern Vietnam and national reunification.
Excited to participate in the activities, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Bich (9th grade, Ngu Thuy No. 1 Primary and Secondary School) said: “The festival brought joy to me and my classmates. We are aware that reading books provides knowledge and wisdom to serve ourselves and others.”

Combining cultural performances and history quizzes, the Quang Binh Provincial Border Guard Library displayed and introduced many new works about the Border Guard force, creating opportunities for students to gain a deeper understanding of the journey of managing and protecting border security and sovereignty; important topics; share experiences about reading; and better understand the value of books in life.
Spreading the value of reading goes beyond simply organizing Reading Day events; it requires more effort and attention. In particular, cultivating a reading habit among students requires the joint efforts of parents, teachers, and society as a whole.
