In recent years, the movement of establishing and maintaining sports clubs, especially martial arts clubs at universities in the province, has grown stronger and stronger. This is a healthy playground to help students practice health, improve physical strength and build a dynamic learning environment.
Traditional martial arts clubs play a role as a solution to help students practice and relax comfortably after stressful study hours.
At the University of Economics and Business Administration (Thai Nguyen University), the martial arts club is a familiar destination for nearly 30 students who love Taekwondo and Vovinam. Every Monday and Wednesday evening, from 6 to 8 p.m., club members gather in the school yard to practice together. The atmosphere of the practice sessions is always exciting with typical moves and techniques, as well as the seriousness and determination of each student.
Nguyen Thanh Thao, Head of the Martial Arts Club, shared: Joining the Club not only helps me improve my physical strength but also my discipline and team spirit. In addition to practicing techniques, the Club also regularly organizes self-defense classes and exchanges with other martial arts clubs, helping students hone their skills and improve their combat skills.
At the University of Education ( Thai Nguyen University), the Vovinam Club maintains vibrant activities, with about 50 members participating regularly. At peak times, the number of members can reach 100-150 students.
The club regularly organizes 3 training sessions per week in the evenings at the dormitory yard, creating a habit of living and training for students. Every three months, club members will participate in the belt promotion exam, thereby continuously improving their skills, creating motivation to help them be more persistent and make efforts on their journey of martial arts training.
Vi Van Duy, Head of the Vovinam Club of the University of Education, said: Joining the club helps students not only improve their health but also learn how to persevere and overcome their own limits. In addition, students also have the opportunity to compete in provincial-level amateur competitions and those organized by Thai Nguyen University. This is where students have the opportunity to connect and grow.
Martial arts clubs are a highlight in the union movement of universities in the province. Mr. Nguyen Huy Hoang, Secretary of the Youth Union of the University of Economics and Business Administration, said: The school always encourages and creates conditions for students to practice physical training, especially participating in martial arts clubs. This is an activity that helps students develop comprehensively in terms of health, will and spirit, while spreading a positive lifestyle in the student community...
According to the plan to develop traditional Vietnamese martial arts in Thai Nguyen, the province aims to have 30% of primary, secondary, high schools, colleges and universities in the area establish and operate traditional martial arts clubs by the end of 2025, aiming to reach 100% by 2030. The martial arts training movement at universities in the province is increasingly expanding and professionalizing.
