Spreading the unique culture and appeal of Vietnamese cuisine in Brunei

To promote Vietnamese culture, arts and cuisine to international friends, the Vietnamese Embassy in Brunei Darussalam in collaboration with the Raddisson Hotel system and the Brunei Music Association organized the "Vietnamese Culture and Cuisine Week" in Brunei from October 27 to November 4.

Attending the opening ceremony of the event held on October 27 were more than 150 delegates, including leaders of Brunei Government agencies, Ambassadors and Heads of diplomatic missions, and representatives of artists, intellectuals, businesses, media and the Vietnamese community in Brunei.

In his opening speech, Vietnamese Ambassador to Brunei Tran Anh Vu emphasized the importance of cultural cooperation and people-to-people exchange in the development of each country and in the ASEAN integration process.

For Vietnam and Brunei, cultural exchange and people-to-people exchanges are identified as important areas of cooperation within the framework of the Action Program to implement the Comprehensive Partnership between the two countries for the period 2023 - 2027, approved during Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's official visit to Brunei Darussalam in February 2023.

Emphasizing the event “Vietnam Culture and Cuisine Week in Brunei” to promote the unique culture and cuisine of Vietnam to Brunei people and international partners, Ambassador Tran Anh Vu expressed his wish to continue receiving close coordination from Government agencies and partners in Brunei in the exchange and friendly activities between the two countries in the coming time.

Also at the event, Ambassador Tran Anh Vu shared the potential of cultural and culinary tourism in Vietnam and believed that there would be more tourists from Brunei, Borneo and other countries visiting Vietnam in the coming time, especially after the Vietnamese Government applied e-visas for citizens of all countries from August 15, 2023 and Royal Brunei Airlines resumed direct flights from Brunei to Ho Chi Minh City with a frequency of 4 flights/week.

Within the framework of the program, artists from the Vietnam Academy of Music, Hanoi College of Arts and young artists from Brunei performed famous musical works from Vietnam and the world such as the piece “Homeland Emotions” for piano by musician Nguyen Huu Tuan, classic works for piano and violin by musicians Mozart, Chopin, Sibelius, Fauvre and some excerpts from famous contemporary musicals such as “The Maid” by Jessie Mueller and Keala Settle.

Pianists Tran Thi Thuc Anh and Nguyen Thi My Dung performed at the event.

Along with music activities and Vietnamese cultural performances, from October 27 to November 4, Radisson Hotel will introduce a special menu to the Bruneian public, including many special dishes that have contributed to making Vietnam one of the 20 countries with the world's leading cuisine according to Taste Atlas's 2022 rankings.

The menu is prepared by the professional chefs of Radisson Blu Resort Phu Quoc, including pho, fried spring rolls, spring rolls, banh xeo and many other famous Vietnamese dishes. In addition, diners have the opportunity to access attractive culinary and tourism promotions including air tickets and resort rooms at Radisson Blu Resort Phu Quoc.
