On the afternoon of August 28, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a Conference to commend typical advanced examples in the field of culture nationwide in 2023.

The event aims to evaluate the emulation movement to implement 6 tasks and 4 solutions to build and develop Vietnamese culture and people in the new period according to the Conclusion of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the National Cultural Conference in 2021, practically celebrating the 78th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2023); 78th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Cultural Sector (August 28, 1945 - August 28, 2023).

Cherish and replicate innovative approaches

At the Conference, delegates listened to the letter of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong congratulating the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnamese Culture sector (August 28, 1945 - August 28, 2023) and the Conference to commend typical advanced models in the field of Culture nationwide in 2023; watched a documentary film about the emulation movement of the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector and 78 typical advanced models; and interacted with typical advanced models attending the Conference.

At the Conference, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy said that the event is an opportunity for the whole industry to review its efforts, unleash all potentials, resources, motivations and new breakthroughs, contributing to the rapid and sustainable development of the country; commend and promote advanced and excellent examples in the patriotic emulation movement, continuing to make the industry's emulation movement increasingly develop in both breadth and depth, truly a driving force to promote and improve the efficiency and quality of work in the coming time.

Specifically, the whole industry has selected 78 typical examples, the most beautiful flowers in the garden of thousands of good deeds in the emulation movement of the Culture industry.

We can mention People's Artist Hoang Thi Bich Hong with her efforts to preserve and spread the heritage of Then singing in Thai Nguyen province; Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoa Tan Dong commune (Phu Yen province) Phan Thuyet Trinh mobilized people to eliminate the custom of scattering votive papers in local funerals; Director of Dong Thap Provincial Library Tran Thi My Trinh with spreading the reading culture in the community... Or dancer Pham Thu Hang (Vietnam National Music and Dance Theater) always strives to overcome difficulties to shine and contribute.

These are simple yet noble examples, with many contributions to the whole industry and the country through specific quantified work, thereby spreading a positive spirit to the whole society.

Shift from "doing culture" to "state management of culture"

Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that the Party, State and Government always pay special attention to, issue and effectively implement many policies and strategies, and devote many resources to building and developing culture, preserving national culture, developing literature and arts and many other cultural fields.

“In the new development stage with the rapidly changing, complex and unpredictable world situation; especially the Fourth Industrial Revolution affecting all aspects of social life, bringing new opportunities and fortunes but also many challenges for the work of preserving and developing culture, arts, sports and tourism. Therefore, in order to both promote the good values of the nation and absorb the quintessence of human culture, create momentum for socio-economic development, firmly ensure national defense and security, it is necessary to join hands, be unanimous with high determination, make great efforts, resolutely and effectively implement tasks and solutions, in which, focus on thoroughly grasping and seriously and effectively implementing the guidelines and policies of the Party and State; the direction of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the National Cultural Conference; must build programs, plans, set out specific tasks, clear roadmap, right people, right job", Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated.

To do this, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh directed that the entire cultural sector needs to continue to innovate its approach and management thinking from “doing culture” to “state management of culture”, focusing on implementing assigned tasks in a proactive, serious, resolute, flexible and creative manner. Review, amend and supplement institutions, mechanisms and policies for cultural development in accordance with the new context and situation.

Strengthening the mobilization and maximizing the effectiveness of state and social resources for comprehensive cultural development, so that culture and people are truly the endogenous strength of the nation. Urgently completing the National Target Program on cultural revival and development, building Vietnamese people for the period 2026-2030, with a vision to 2045. Building a clean and healthy cultural environment with a focus on preserving, promoting and multiplying the nation's precious cultural and traditional values.

Along with that, it is necessary to create favorable conditions, strongly stimulate the creativity of the artists to create cultural, literary and artistic works of high value, fully, vividly and attractively reflecting the traditional beauty of the nation and the practical process of national renewal. Sustainable preservation, effective promotion of the nation's cultural heritage, linking and motivating the development of economy, sports and tourism. Further develop mass sports to both improve the health of the whole population and create a premise for the development of high-performance sports. Select, nurture and train sports talents with a focus and priority; promote public-private cooperation in the field of high-performance sports.

Further promote the recovery and development of tourism in a modern direction with diverse and attractive products, creating different values, competitive prices based on the potential and strengths of the country and people of Vietnam. Promote patriotic emulation movements, arouse patriotism, sense of responsibility, and creativity of the staff. Timely detect, commend, honor, and reward individuals and organizations with achievements, typical advanced examples, especially individuals directly involved in cultural and artistic work in remote, isolated, border, and island areas.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh shared that beloved Uncle Ho once said: "Cadres are the root of all work", cultural sector cadres need to actively practice, cultivate ethics, political qualities, improve expertise, enthusiastically compete, become shining examples, have influence, and have the ability to inspire the community and society.
