First time organizing a culinary festival of dishes made from tea plants

The Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thai Nguyen province said that this is the first time the Food Festival with ingredients processed from tea trees and products from Thai Nguyen tea has been organized.

On December 16, in Thai Nguyen city, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thai Nguyen province coordinated with the Provincial Tourism Association to organize a culinary festival with the theme "Experience the land of tea, rich in identity" with the participation of 120 people from 36 teams from districts, cities, units, restaurants...

With the aim of exploiting and introducing traditional dishes made from products of Thai Nguyen tea trees, 36 teams participating in the program introduced to the public about 150 unique and special dishes such as: Thai chicken rolls with green tea sauce; Green tea jade chicken; Green tea rolled salmon; Green tea rolled ethnic pig; Green tea rolled sukem cake; Green tea steamed chicken; Tea bud salad with shrimp and meat; River fish stewed with tea buds...

Many dishes have brought surprise, interest and impression to the hearts of tourists. In addition to the participation of experts, folk artists, people who understand and are capable of preparing traditional cuisine, the Festival also has the participation of chefs, food processing staff at a number of tourism businesses, restaurants, catering services, hotels, motels, homestays, tourist areas and spots in the province.

Mr. Le Ngoc Linh, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thai Nguyen province, said that this is the first time a culinary festival with ingredients processed from tea trees and products from Thai Nguyen tea has been held in the province.

The festival is one of the activities to promote the development of tea trees associated with tourism, thereby contributing to exploiting and introducing traditional dishes associated with products processed from tea trees and Thai Nguyen tea products, creating typical and unique culinary products of the province; gradually building a brand of dishes processed from tea trees; contributing to preserving and promoting culinary cultural values, enriching tourism products to introduce and promote to a large number of domestic and international tourists.

Thai Nguyen is the province with the largest tea area and output in the country with 4 famous "Four Great Tea" tea regions including: Tan Cuong tea region (Thai Nguyen city); La Bang tea region (Dai Tu district); Trai Cai tea region (Dong Hy district) and Khe Coc tea region (Phu Luong district).

Each region has its own unique characteristics that create the diverse tea products of Thai Nguyen.

To date, the province has 290 OCOP products, including more than 140 OCOP products from tea, especially 2 tea products achieving 5-star OCOP. The province currently has 52 enterprises, nearly 100 cooperatives producing and trading tea; 230 tea craft villages and more than 90,000 tea growing households.

Thai Nguyen has been implementing programs and policies to support the development of tea trees associated with tourism, thereby contributing to helping local people develop community tourism in a sustainable and professional manner, bringing high economic efficiency, improving people's lives, and increasing the added value of tea trees and tea products./.
