For the first time, Vietnam is ranked in the group of e-government at a very high level.

After 2 terms of maintaining the same ranking in the E -Government Index (EGDI), in the 2024 ranking, Vietnam ranked 71/193 United Nations member countries, up 15 places compared to 2022. With this result, Vietnam was ranked in the EGDI group at a very high level for the first time.
On September 19, the Ministry of Information and Communications said that the United Nations has just released the 2024 E-Government Development Index (EGDI) Survey Report.

Vietnam has completed its 2024 target of increasing its e-government ranking by at least 5 places.

With the theme "Accelerating digital transformation for sustainable development", this year's report emphasizes the increasingly important role of digital transformation and digital government for countries around the world to achieve sustainable development goals. The United Nations report provides information on the development of digital government on a global, regional and national scale; helping each country know its position in the picture of digital government in the world, promptly grasp trends to have the right strategy for developing digital government in the future. The EGDI 2024 report shows the development of digital government worldwide, applying digital technology to improve the quality of public services and increase people's participation in the activities of state agencies, especially in the recovery period after the Covid-19 pandemic. The EGDI 2024 report introduced the new Digital Government Model Framework, including 6 driving forces of digital government such as: digital leadership; focus on data; legal digital identity; effective e-participation; digital culture and digital infrastructure. In addition, the report also provides information on the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in public sector governance. In the 2024 rankings, Vietnam ranked 71st out of 193 United Nations member states, up 15 places compared to 2022. With this result, Vietnam was ranked in the EGDI group at the "very high" level for the first time and rose to the highest ranking position since it began participating in the United Nations EGDI assessment in 2003. With this outstanding ranking result, Vietnam has completed the goal set for 2024 of increasing the e-government ranking by at least 5 places in Resolution No. 02/NQ-CP dated January 5, 2024 of the Government on key tasks and solutions to improve the business environment and enhance national competitiveness in 2024; At the same time, it demonstrates the strong direction of the Government and the Prime Minister, the participation and efforts of state agencies at all levels, which have brought about remarkable results. In the coming time, Vietnam will continue to make efforts to implement national digital transformation for socio -economic development, including implementing solutions to continue improving the ranking of Vietnam's e-government and digital government indexes according to the United Nations' assessment; thereby improving the business environment and enhancing national competitiveness.
