Attending the welcoming ceremony were Colonel Nguyen Minh Khanh, Deputy Commander, Chief of Staff of Coast Guard Region 3, along with representatives of the Indonesian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, leaders of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province and representatives of relevant agencies and armed forces in the area.
Coast Guard ship KN. Pulau Dana and its crew will officially stay in Ba Ria – Vung Tau from October 8 to 11.
During the anchorage in Vung Tau, the delegation of officers and staff of the Coast Guard Ship KN. Pulau Dana will pay a courtesy visit to the leaders of the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province and the Command of Coast Guard Region 3.
Indonesian Coast Guard officers and sailors will participate in sports, cultural and culinary exchanges with officers and soldiers of the Coast Guard Region 3 Command; visit historical sites and scenic spots in Vung Tau City. In addition, the two Coast Guard forces of Vietnam and Indonesia will have training activities in search and rescue, fire prevention and fighting at sea.
This is the first visit of an Indonesian Coast Guard ship to Vietnam and is of great significance, realizing the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Coast Guards of the two countries signed in 2021.
The visit continues to affirm the good cooperative relationship between the two Coast Guard forces and the two countries' armies; especially the solidarity, traditional friendship, and strategic partnership between the two countries that is developing increasingly deeply on the solid foundation built by President Ho Chi Minh and President Sukarno towards the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2025.
This is also a good opportunity for young officers from both sides to exchange experiences, improve their professional qualifications and practical skills in law enforcement; handle search and rescue situations, and handle marine environmental pollution incidents.
