How to improve the quality of scientific research?

Scientific workshop "Solutions to improve the quality of scientific research activities of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences"

On the morning of May 18, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences held a scientific workshop "Solutions to improve the quality of scientific research activities of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences".

During the 70 years of establishment and development (1953-2023) of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, despite facing many difficulties and challenges, generations of scientists of the Institute have always been diligent and enthusiastic in researching and disseminating scientific knowledge. The intelligence, efforts and responsibilities of scientists have crystallized in many valuable research works. Many scientists of the Institute have been honored to receive noble awards from the State.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Dr. Phan Chi Hieu, President of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, emphasized: "In addition to the achievements, the scientific research activities of the Institute still face many difficulties and obstacles... In order for the workshop to achieve the desired results, I respectfully request that delegates speak frankly, focus their collective intelligence to find solutions to remove difficulties and obstacles, overcome limitations to improve the quality of scientific research in the coming time, gradually consolidate and enhance the position and role of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences in the social sciences and humanities research community nationwide."

At the workshop, with a frank spirit, the presentations focused on highlighting the current situation as well as solutions to build a team of scientific research staff of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences. In particular, solutions to innovate the scientific management mechanism of the Institute as well as remove barriers to promote resources for scientific research, open up sources of topics and promote the application of scientific research results of the Institute, build an environment to create motivation for scientific research activities at the Institute... received special attention.

This is a practical activity to celebrate Vietnam Science and Technology Day (May 18), an opportunity to honor scientists; to arouse the spirit of initiative, creativity, and promote the capacity of scientists in policy consulting research. At the same time, this is also an opportunity for the leaders of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences to assign tasks to leading scientists, the Institute's Socio-Economic Development Policy Advisory Council, and functional research institutes in promoting their advisory role on urgent and hot issues of the country at the request of the Party and Government or proactively advising the Party and Government in accordance with the functions and tasks assigned to the Institute.
