Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên05/11/2023

The fast pace of life around us makes many people neglect and pay little attention to their health. For young people, back pain is a fairly common health problem. If not treated properly, this pain can become chronic.

Many people think that back pain is a common problem for older people. But in fact, even young people in their 20s often suffer from back pain. The causes of back pain are quite diverse, mainly due to poor posture, muscle strain and injury, according to the daily newspaper The Times of India (India).

Even though they are young, people in their 20s can suffer from back pain, even chronic pain, due to many different causes.

Back pain is considered chronic if it lasts for more than 3 months. When you have chronic back pain, the pain may subside for a while and then return soon. Treating chronic back pain is difficult if you do not know the root cause. Depending on the cause, your doctor will apply the following treatments:

Physical therapy

Experts say that proper exercise is one of the best ways to treat chronic back pain. However, physical therapy should only be performed under the guidance of a doctor or a spine specialist who is trained and licensed to practice. Physical therapy exercises will be designed to suit each case. The exercises mainly focus on posture, testing the limits of pain tolerance, stretching, increasing flexibility, aerobic exercise and strengthening the core muscle groups.

Adjust your diet

Many foods can make inflammation worse. Experts recommend that people with back pain avoid foods high in trans fats, refined sugars, and processed foods. Young people with chronic back pain should consult their doctor to see if their current diet is affecting their pain. Maintaining a healthy weight can also help reduce stress on the spine and reduce back pain.

Treatment with appropriate methods

There are many different ways to treat chronic back pain. In addition to physical therapy and medication, your doctor may treat you with massage, laser, electrical nerve stimulation, and other nonsurgical spinal treatments.

Increase calcium and vitamin D

Young people may have bone problems and back pain due to calcium and vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D can be supplemented through fatty fish, egg yolks and cheese in addition to morning sun exposure. Meanwhile, foods rich in calcium include milk, yogurt, green leafy vegetables and supplements, according to The Times of India.
