Clarifying the case of a high school in Hue giving students a day off before the holiday so teachers could go to the beach

On the afternoon of April 29, responding to VTC News reporter, Mr. Nguyen Tan - Director of the Department of Education and Training of Thua Thien - Hue province said that he is asking Nguyen Sinh Cung High School (Phu Vang district) to specifically report on the school's decision to let students take a day off on Friday (April 28), so that the Department can consider and handle the matter.

Previously, some parents whose children are studying at Nguyen Sinh Cung High School said that the school gave their children a day off on Friday (April 28) so that teachers could go to the beach and make up for the day off on May 3 - a day off according to state regulations.

On the afternoon of April 28, the reporter was present at Nguyen Sinh Cung High School but there was not a single person in the school.

Responding to VTC News reporter, Mr. Vuong Hung Tinh - Principal of Nguyen Sinh Cung High School confirmed that students were allowed to take a day off on April 28 and explained: " The decision to let students take a day off before the holiday was due to the agreement of the school's union and will be made up for by teaching. After agreeing to let students take a day off, on the afternoon of April 28, because it was a day off, the school's union organized a trip for teachers to the beach ."

In early 2023, Nguyen Sinh Cung High School also had a "scandal" when the first semester exam questions for subjects in the social group for grade 12 were leaked. The person who leaked the exam questions was a female officer working at Nguyen Sinh Cung High School.

Specifically, during the process of managing the exam and printing copies, this person tried to take the essay sections of the subjects in the social group including history, geography, and civic education from the test on the morning of January 7 to bring back and reveal to his nephew who is studying at a high school in Hue City. After that, this student shared the exam with many friends.

The holidays of April 30 and May 1, 2023 are adjacent to the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day. Therefore, employees will have 5 consecutive days off. Many localities organize festival activities on this occasion. Specifically, the holiday schedule for the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day, April 30 and May 1, 2023 according to the Labor Code is as follows:
- 1 day off April 29 (Saturday): Hung King's death anniversary (10th day of the 3rd lunar month).
- 1 day off April 30 (Sunday): Victory Day.
- 1 day off 1/5 (Monday): International Labor Day.
- 1 day off 2/5 (Tuesday): Compensatory day off (for 4/30 on Sunday)
- 1 day off on May 3 (Wednesday): Compensatory day off (for Hung Kings' Commemoration Day on Saturday) - only for those who have a fixed schedule off every Saturday.
