Lam Dong deploys Lien Khuong Airport Planning

Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee requests relevant agencies, units and localities to proactively review and update the planning content of Lien Khuong Airport into sectoral planning, regional planning, land use planning and related planning.

On May 24, the Provincial People's Committee assigned relevant agencies, units and localities to coordinate and support Lien Khuong Airport in implementing the Lien Khuong Airport Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050 according to the contents of the Decision approving the Lien Khuong Airport Planning for this period of the Ministry of Transport.

In particular, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee requested relevant agencies, units and localities to proactively review and update the planning content of Lien Khuong Airport into sectoral planning, regional planning, land use planning and related planning in the management field.

“The People's Committee of Duc Trong district plans and manages land funds, manages construction in accordance with approved planning, creating favorable conditions for the expansion of the airport when there is a need for the planned land area for runway 2 to reserve for long-term goals,” Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee directed.

Previously, on May 17, the Ministry of Transport approved the Lien Khuong Airport Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.

Accordingly, Lien Khuong Airport is an international airport. In the period of 2021-2030, it will be a 4E airport (according to the standard code of the International Civil Aviation Organization - ICAO) and a level II military airport; capacity of 5 million passengers/year and 20,000 tons of cargo/year; type of aircraft operated is code C such as A320/A321, code E such as B747/B787/A350 and equivalent...

Regarding the runway system, the 2021-2030 period will maintain the existing runway configuration with dimensions of 3,250m x 45m, material shoulder width of 7.5m; with a vision to 2050, the existing runway will be extended to the West (beginning of 09) by 350m to 3,600m x 45m, material shoulder size according to regulations.

Regarding the taxiway system, in the period of 2021 - 2030, taxiways will be planned parallel to the entire length of the existing runway; 3 connecting taxiways, 1 quick exit taxiway, and material curb sizes will be planned according to regulations; with a vision to 2050, parallel taxiways will be extended in accordance with the runway extension; 1 additional connecting taxiway, 1 quick exit taxiway, and material curb sizes will be planned according to regulations.

Regarding the aircraft parking lot, in the period of 2021 - 2030, the aircraft parking lot will be expanded to accommodate 21 parking positions and have reserves for expansion when needed; with a vision to 2050, the aircraft parking lot will continue to be expanded to accommodate 27 parking positions and have reserves for expansion when needed...

Regarding the passenger terminal, in the period of 2021 - 2030, the T1 passenger terminal with a capacity of 2 million passengers/year will be maintained, and a new T2 passenger terminal with a capacity of about 3 million passengers/year will be planned; with a vision to 2050, the T2 passenger terminal will be expanded so that the total capacity of the entire Port will reach about 7 million passengers/year; land will be reserved for development when needed.

Regarding the cargo terminal, in the period of 2021 - 2030, the cargo terminal and parking lot are planned on the land east of the civil aviation area, with an area of ​​about 23,300m2, meeting the capacity of about 20,000 tons of cargo/year; with a vision to 2050, the existing location will be renovated and expanded when needed to meet the capacity of about 30,000 tons of cargo/year.
