DNVN – Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee requested Vietjet to soon recover, increase the frequency of domestic flights and open a route from Lien Khuong International Airport to Singapore to meet the increasing travel demand of people and tourists, contributing to socio-economic development.
On July 31, the People's Committee of Lam Dong province said it had sent a document requesting Vietjet Aviation Joint Stock Company (Vietjet) to restore domestic flights and promote the opening of flights from Lien Khuong International Airport to Singapore.
Lien Khuong is the first international airport in the Central Highlands region.
This is the second time Lam Dong has sent a document requesting Vietjet on this issue (the first time was in November 2023). In the context that Lien Khuong Airport was just announced to become an international airport at the end of June this year.
Restoring and increasing the frequency of previous domestic flights and opening an international flight route from Lien Khuong to Singapore will create conditions for Lam Dong province to develop its socio-economy, serving the travel needs of people and tourists. To promote culture, tourism, trade promotion, investment attraction... especially during the 2024 Flower Festival.
It is known that in 2023 and the first 6 months of 2024, at Lien Khuong Airport, domestic flights will serve an average of 40 departures and arrivals per day, with an average passenger volume of 6,700.
Vietjet operates domestic flights to Phu Quoc, Can Tho, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Vinh, Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, Hanoi and international charter flights to Muan, Incheon (Korea). Contributing to the development of tourism, trade and socio-economic development of the locality.
However, currently due to the general impact of the shortage of aircraft, Vietjet has cut some routes and reduced the frequency of domestic routes it is operating, such as: Ho Chi Minh City, Hue, Vinh, Hai Phong, Hanoi... so it has not been able to meet the travel needs of people and tourists.
The first international airport of the Central Highlands On June 22, 2024, Lien Khuong Airport officially became an international airport and the first international airport in the Central Highlands region. This is considered an extremely important boost to the development of tourism in the Central Highlands in general and Lam Dong in particular. According to the approved plan, by 2030, Lien Khuong International Airport will be a level 4E airport - the highest level in Vietnam today, with a capacity to serve 5 million passengers and 20,000 tons of cargo per year. By 2050, the airport's capacity is expected to be increased to 7 million passengers and 30,000 tons of cargo per year. |
